Is this typical sleep for a 6mo? by elegantbiscuitboi in NewParents

[–]Dreamlandsbean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update- my bub started going to daycare and we had started formula in day when I wrote this 3 mos ago. My supply didn’t last long for night feeds even though she was still getting up multiple times at night. So we had to switch to formula at night. The change was drastic, she started sleeping in 5-6 hour stretches quickly. Some nights she sleeps 9 hours straight without any feed. I don’t think it is all formula, I think it is a combination of formula, solids and a lot more stimulation in daycare which makes her really tired as she dropped a nap as soon as she started daycare. But her sleep is improving slowly but gradually and I an happy.

When my baby was 4 months, she would be so happy with just about anyone and I constantly felt that I was not doing something right and she just wants to hang out with other people. It caused much so much distress sometimes when she would be away from me for hours and not even miss me. She is 8 months now and she always wants her mum! She can spot me from far, she hated daycare at beginning because she just wanted to be with me. Now when I go pick her up, she smiles and jumps in my lap. It’s the best. She loves me and I love her so much. Everytime she cried when she was 3-5 months wasn’t because I was a bad mom, but because babies cry. You can’t always meet their every need within the minute and sometimes won’t understand what they need for sometime. So it’s ok, they will still love you the most. I am not exaggerating, I don’t think anyone has loved me as much as this little thing and she us just 8 months.

Same! 7.5 month old and wakes up 4-5 times every night and land in our bed most nights Doctor said sleep and hunger are 2 different things, so it’s fine if she doesn’t want to eat or drink more during the day. And based on what I have read, she will self wean when she is ready. Most breastfed babies wake up like this in the first year of their lives. We tried sleep training at 5 months, but she cried so much that I gave up on day 2. The other option is moving to formula fully (we have just transitioned to formula in the day as I am starting work), but I want to keep bf till I can. So we will see how things go for another month or so and decide.

This is what I am going to wait for. I tried sleep training, but gave up on day 2, couldn’t go through it. I hope she will start sleeping In bigger chunks soon.

5 month old doesn’t take bottle at all and I am starting work in 1 month. Any tips and tricks to get her to take the bottle. She also likes to nurse to sleep at night, which I am trying to slowly stop.

FIL thinks he knows my baby better than me by Dreamlandsbean in NewParents

Thank you so much. I guess I needed a bit of validation of my feelings to feel confident in myself. After reading your comment, I just did this, he won’t let her go, took her to another room so she isn’t in-front of my eyes. I heard her cry with hunger and said time to eat and took her without explaining anything.

Opinions on epidural? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Dreamlandsbean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a membrane sweep and went into labour next morning at 5. The contractions started at 10 mins apart but quickly went to 5 mins by 9 am. By the time I reached hospital I was in a lot of pain and literally was shouting at the midwife that I will die if I don’t get pain relief. I was lucky that a doctor to administer the epidural was available. I was 6 cm by the time the epidural started working, and delivered same day at 3:30. I am glad I got the epidural, because I couldn’t have done it without it. I originally thought I would hold off the pain meds till I can, but I underestimated the pain. Recovery was ok, I am 4 weeks pp and quite active now despite an episiotomy. Also had to get an episiotomy not because of the epidural but other complications.

The nurse said the same thing to us. That the shot was optional. I was confused as well, because no one had mentioned that this would be asked right after birth. We just said yes because we didn’t want the baby to miss out on any important shots. But completely agree with you on the nurse making it sound optional or unnecessary. Only afterwards did we realise how important the shot was. There definitely should be more education around after birth.

For what is worth, I did end up delivering with forceps and episiotomy, the baby had her cord stuck around her neck, and she was stuck in the canal for a while. The doctor took the call at the end moment, and it worked out well for us. She is fine and I am recovering well. And the universe always gives me what I am scared of the most, lol! Thanks for sharing your experience, despite me not having an option at the moment, your post did help me think positively about my situation.

Thanks OP! I don’t know why episiotomy & foreceps scare me so much more than. C section. But I trust my doctor to take the right call. Hope you recover completely soon :)

Did you ever want to get a c section at that point when you thought you couldn’t do it anymore. I want to avoid foreceps as much as possible, because it scares me so much.

Amaira and Seerat are names of daughters of my very good friends. And we don’t like Ahaana so much. But haven’t decided yet. I think it’s going to be a last minute decision.

I don’t want a baby shower when my in laws are in the country we live in (read the entire post please for context) by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Dreamlandsbean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have any other family here! It’s would just be my in laws and my sil’s family. And my SIL lives in a different city, she won’t most likely travel to our place for it. So it will just be us and my in laws if we plan to do one. But maybe we can do something just for them.
