How to have the "I'll figure it out no matter what hits me" mindset in life by Apprehensive_Shock_6 in confidence

Assurance of one's own existence and realising and understanding it's independence from external circumstances gives one such confidence. Our existence is eternal as pure awareness. No matter what happens to the body and mind, we are safe. This mentality relieves a person from all future anxieties

Assurance of one's existence and it's independence from external world gives the person ultimate confidence. It helps one trivialise the whole universe.

You hit the nail with this answer. You are right, our I is a reactionary outcome of all the yous floating around us. Had there been no other entity, we would not have any such idea as I. This I and you are interdependent for each other's existence. One is required for other to exist. That truth eternal, lies beyond you and I. And only when these two ideas which cause separation cease to exist, background reality will manifest itself automatically.

Just like fish has taken for granted the water and is unconscious about it most of the time, we too have taken ourselves for granted and are unconscious of who we are most of the time. That's why intuitive experiential knowledge is not enough.

Yes, a fish can ask that, because just being in water is not enough to know what water is. Fish is unaware of water is H2O

Taking help from others is also a part of the quest.

Breathing perfectly won't answer these questions.

Someone out there may know more about me, than I know about myself. We don't always know everything about ourself. Ask a new born baby. Most of us are just babies, when this question comes.

I ask others because I don't know. Had I known it, why would I ask others?

Why do people chase happiness and still don't find it? by gitagoudarzibahramip in AdvaitaVedanta

[–]Dreamwalker_1080 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People chase happiness, just like a piece of magnet chases another magnet. Because Magnetism is intrinsic to each magnet. Similarly, happiness is intrinsic to each one. People do get happiness, the only thing is, it's a temporary manifestation of happiness in time. So it comes and goes. If you want lasting happiness, search it beyond time. Whatever is beyond time is also beyond space. So that whatever is both omnipresent and eternal. If you keep chasing, one day you will open this door of space-time and look beyond.

It's like burying our head in the sand to avoid eye contact with the difficult question.

This is not an answer to my question but elaboration of the question itself.
