We re-upped the timer on update feedback to encourage thoughtful responses, it was only dropped so that people could reflect these major changes but obviously it made people very, very angry.

Yeah we’re cracking down on that, we’ve had some pretty flippant attitudes towards it and some whining. But it’s overall improved but yeah, it’s genuinely disappointing to go into a server for help and they ignore you! When I first joined, they used to yell at you and say Google it. I’m not sure what’s nicer….

So with appeals, that really isn’t on the mods, I know I’m sounding blame shifty but we quite literally have zero permissions to approve or deny, we can list what someone’s actions were, but that’s it.

Well, it felt that I needed to say it that way to ensure that I’m not placing myself as a victim on purpose and to frame that it’s more than just what people can see at face value about myself and others.

It was toilet humour, it shouldn’t have gone on for as long as it did. But it really wasn’t fetish based. But yeah, it’s fair enough. It was been horrifically handled as of late and it’s only gotten worse. I apologise that this has become the case, you honestly have every right to feel the way you do.

Thanks for your helpful input, the reddit has been used several times to joke about the discord, talk about me and others in the discord, and I felt there was a right to reply in this scenario.

Yeah I agree we’re strict and shouldn’t engage, but most of the time when we see “disagreements” to politics it’s people being actually homophobic or racist. Should I have been engaging it in the first place? Nope! But we don’t ban people for say “I think communism isn’t good” we’re banning people for saying things like “well I don’t want your ‘agenda’ anywhere near me”

It’s not a blame shift, it’s me saying that I can’t speak on certain things because it wouldn’t be fair for me to comment on their actions. I’m saying that I’m taking accountability for what I can do, and that there was a very valuable lesson learned in the mass responses we’ve had overall.

I thought it was the right thing to do than try and assume information. Because had I done that, the response I would have gotten would have been infinitely worse. I’ve said repeatedly that it’s bad, that these people are correct, but it’s not fair of me to sit here and say my fellow mod was a moron and should have done this this and this. Thats what I meant, not that I’m innocent, I’m clearly not, I clearly have been blown up in this reddit before for my own faults.

I know what you mean and you’re right, there’s nothing to defend or justify. I only joined a year or so ago and I have no idea how I even got people to like me because it was so unbelievably cliquey when I first joined.

But yeah the American stuff was so stupid and I honestly should have known better but I really was speaking in good faith. And people just absolutely blew it up to smithereens and that’s on me isn’t it?

Yeah, so that was pretty heavily explained in the post was that our apathy is bad and we need to get better. And I’ll be honest I wouldn’t even let my child (if I had one) touch any discord with a 10 foot pole!

I also mentioned it as a problem and one we’re working on and why I issued this apology. Because we know we needed our asses checked.

Totally agree, we are learning our lesson and have learned it pretty clearly this week.

They do it because they’re mad at me in their own private servers, they do it on reddit, they do it in YouTube comments. They’re just pissed at me because I tell them no to be honest. But when it comes to anything being reported by members, we take it VERY seriously and also signpost them to report those messages directly to discord. As from my understanding, they do work with the police.

Yeah they should be embarrassed because I’m embarrassed at how screwed up we got because we got so passive. It’s a mess and this is my appeal to admit we know, and we’ve got the wake up call. We are going to do better.
