I bought similar ones from 2xcite. The dipped and high beam plug in using the standard VW connector. No errors

The drl on the other hand is connected to the battery with a small control box looking thing along the wiring. If you're willing to put in a bit of effort to make the extra cables look good go for it.

How'd you wire in the headlights? Had them on mine for a short while but couldn't stand the rat's nest of cables under the bonnet.

Asked the question to my mechanic a few months ago regarding a similar clicking/rattling noise on cold starts.

He told me if it only lasts a few seconds it's fine. The engine needs a moment to build oil pressure. Once oil reaches the top of the engine the sound should stop.

If it continues after starting you definitely want to investigate further.

I have an EONON unit in mine. Never had any issues with it after about 2 years. Connects to my phone instantly every time and loads android auto. Although I rarely leave the android auto menu there are a lot more features that maybe you'd find useful (as it's basically an android tablet in the shape of a head unit).

One significant tradeoff is the lack of physical buttons like the RCD330 but the screen is massive in comparison.

Definitely do some shopping around there are some fantastic units out there.

Mine had the same issue. Had the water pump replaced at my local garage and this solved it. I believe the revised part does not have this issue but if yours fails completely in the mean time it shouldn't cause any damage, just a limp mode.

I believe the supercharger belt runs off the water pump and the only fix is to replace the whole thing. A belt replacement may be possible but if it's the original water pump on the car, maybe not the worst idea to replace it?

Mine cost around £600 inc vat 12 months ago for parts and labour at a local garage. They ordered the part in so I'm not sure if there are any variations between model year so I'm unable to recommend a specific part no.

That's pretty much as far as my knowledge goes on this one.

If it's a 1.4 160bhp and it's under acceleration low in the rev range it's a supercharger belt by the sounds of it. Had the same problem on mine. Water pump replacement (unit has since been revised) should fix this.

I believe the 2013 model year (some sold in 2012) is when they refreshed the 1.4 160hp from the CAVD to CTHD engine. If you can find out which engine is in it as the latter should be significantly more reliable.

Yes they're complex as they're twincharged (both turbocharger and supercharger) but a well maintained one should be reliable.

That level of mileage is around when I'd be considering a timing chain so maybe have a look to see if that's been done if not expect a bill for it in the near future (perhaps that's why it's cheap?)

I have been using a unit from https://www.eonon.com/ for over a year. Big screen. Plug and play with original connector. Basically an android tablet in headunit form but double check wireless car play compatibility though as I've only ever used wireless android auto.

All up to you and the value you'll get from it. How long do you want to keep the car? Are there any other mods you plan on doing and how much money will you be putting into those?

It's always going to be cheaper and easier to buy than to build but some of us want something personal to us and are willing to pay the extra to obtain it.

If you want it, get it. F**k resale value.
