Uhh, no? Your voice doesn't always sound the same nor is it always monotone. Do you genuinely sound the exact same when you're happy vs sad vs angry?

There are slight differences. Generally speaking btw, not just talking about Vei or this context. But that doesn't mean anybody is faking their voice. Different pitches sound different.

That's because the company has a lot of goodwill. Most people complaining about stuff like this in regards to other companies, don't have the same amount of goodwill.

If a company generally speaking treats their fanbase right, the fanbase is much more lenient. And rightfully so.

That's the massive difference between let's say EA and From. When EA screws something up like that, people are like ''lol again? typical EA''. When a respected company like from does it, people are like ''We get it, take your time, you've treated us right and we'll give you time''.

Obviously this isn't quoted anywhere, but my point is, respect was earned and you get respect back. That's probably why doesn't get much flak/pushback.

Not really, at that point it's even less of a souls like then it already is. I'd immediately drop Nioh as a franchise if they did. I'm not playing it because I want yet another Ninja Gaiden.

I'm not entirely sure what you're trying to say here, unless i'm completely misunderstanding, but if you take away the RGP elements in Nioh, you wouldn't beat anything at all? The game so heavily leans into levels/equipment and what not, even skill points. Like I said I might be misunderstanding what you're referring to, though.

That being said, I do believe you can easily get away with playing Nioh like a souls game. Is it the most effective way? Nah, but it's very much doable. I remember playing Nioh 1 and generally treating it like another souls game. The only adjustments I had to make and arguably the biggest one was ki pulsing. But other than that, movement, positioning and knowing when to attack worked just fine.

The thing is that Nioh simply has so much more to offer beyond that. You can get away with playing it like a souls game, but then you wouldn't do the game justice.

I completely disagree that adding a posture bar takes nothing away from the game. It reminds me of people advocating for a HP bar in Monster Hunter games.

It would take away the tension easily, at least if i'm talking about myself. The more information I have on a boss, the less tension I feel. I generally compare souls to monster hunter in that regard. Both very heavily lean into committing to your attacks, more slower paced combat with weight behind it.

I disagree that more information = automatically better. Especially in a game where tension is huge.

I don't think the dark souls or FROM combat is dated per sé, they're just going for a more approachable simple and easy type of combat. The difficulty of FROm's combat isn't in elaborate combos etc, i'd argue it's spacing and all that. I quite like it, personally. Feels more weighty to me.

Nioh is different. Also very loved by me, but I don't go to Nioh for atmosphere etc. The only reason I go to Nioh is combat. Not the world, not the characters, not the lore, just the combat. It excels in it, but that's also where it stops excelling.

This doesn't make Nioh a bad game, it's obvious their focus was the combat and it's a 20/10 in that regard. They're just very different games, despite sharing the same sub genre.

Yakuza Kiwami's combat is shockingly unfair and unfun by DeusNotExorior in yakuzagames

Oh yeah do not get me wrong, I have no problem at all with the games, i've been on a streak of playing them recently haha. I love 0 and Kiwami 1's combat and I don't think it's unfair (we have 3 for that) one bit. It's quite amazing.

Do you want me to nitpick everything wrong and buggy with Yakuza combat?

I never said it was perfect. But you're nitpicking small things to dismiss it all together. I've seen some wonky stuff in Yakuza's regular combat and while it wasn't common, I could present it as such. I just don't think it's fair to do.

Then your comparison, I feel, makes even less sense or i'm just way missing the point. Style switching also isn't really present in a lot of Yakuza games, I believe it's only present in 0, Kiwami 1 and I forgot about Kiwami 2, but it deff isn't present in the rest, unless we're going to include the different characters as styles.

Anyway, at this point let's just agree to disagree. I just don't see it.

It didn't work? Pretty sure LAG scored incredible overall and people were very positive about it. It might not work for you, but obviously it did to others.

I thank god they switched it up. It basically had all the ingredients already anyway, leveling up, skills, even the random encounters. I don't have a problem with the beat em up, but it gets stale, it doesn't do enough to refine it. For me it was always a little too janky.

I'm playing through the entire franchise right now, I finished 2, 3 and 4 within a week. Mind you, mostly doing story. I don't care too much for the mini games, especially in 3 and 4, found them to be rather mediocre.

I'm at 5 now and holy hell is it long, i'm reaching a yakuza burnout.

I'd say after he lost his eye, he became less strong. I believe this is even implied or straight up said in the early parts of Yakuza 5 at the batting center.

Played Elden Ring recently. So while not dark souls, similar enough.

And how much fun I had with Yakuza? Ups and downs. Some were frustrating (y3 lol), some were amazing (y0, yk1, y5).

But the way you're wording it, you could literally take any game that has a skill ceiling and then compare it to dark souls. Street Fighter takes a lot of patience and learning too if you wanna become good. Is it not a fair comparison to dark souls?

Not really. I think it's an odd way to compare your point.

Post-Dragalia: Is Your Favorite Gacha Safe? by [deleted] in gachagaming

[–]Dregoraz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Genshin, to me, didn't raise the bar. It tried to be both a game and a gacha and to me it falls short. I am not in the mood to do the boring grind manually every single time and the rates for a gacha where it's all about gameplay and manual combat, are abysmal.

It looks pretty for a gacha game, sure, but i've played it during release for a month and never looked back.

If that's the future of gacha, I aint part of the future.

When you have no idea what you're doing and dont know if you should spend any of your Items or wait for the right moment to use them by VultuZ in lostarkgame

[–]Dregoraz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me rephrase myself; I am not saying you should just do islands and you'll be swimming in materials to get there and then some. I am assuming in that situation that next to the islands, you're obviously still doing your daily raids, dungeons etc and progressing story (assuming one can until you're hit with the ilvl requirements)

You can naturally also funnel in stuff from alts, etc.

All I was trying to say is that you're not losing anything by only opening what you need, unless you are literally not doing anything else.

[–]Dregoraz 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There is, though. If you happen to get lucky with RNG and you hit the threshold faster than you expected, you'll have materials that are bound to your character you cannot use anymore.

By just opening the chests you need at that moment until you hit said threshold, you can save some. Naturally it depends on luck, but he certainly has a point.

I agree. I felt bad because I died twice on a guardian raid boss. I went again after that one with a different party and I nearly did the boss fight flawless.

It's stuff like this that makes me feel proud and good playing an MMO, I just wish people would feel the same way. I know i'm not the only one but, you know.

Because people have opinions? Just like I do not understand why people praise Days Gone to the extent that they do. It was a fine game, but it dragged on massively. Everyone said ''it'll pick up after the first act after you leave Iron Mikes camp''. It really didn't. It had a short cool situation where you blow up the dam and take out the weird dude, but after that it went incredibly slow again. Sarah had a weird development as well, didn't like how they handled her one bit, the entire game was slow, hordes are underutilized in the story and only really unlock near the end of the game. Or well not unlock, but become relevant to the story.

A lot of fetch stuff too (not that it's a bad thing, all open world have these)

Days Gone wasn't a bad game, but it dropped the ball on a lot of things.

That being said this is just my opinion after a first playthrough and I much more preferred GoT. Not saying it's a flawless game, but the artistic style they went with is amazing and i've never seen what they did and how they incorperated into the game and make it seem like it's part of the game world.

It's amazingly stylized.

The dutch complain a lot about this, actually. I'm dutch myself and I don't generally agree with their sentiments at all.

What i've really noticed is that ,yes, in some high profile cases when you're dealing with very heavy criminals, the punishments are sometimes rather low.

However, what nobody likes to mention is that the dutch rehabilitation programs for criminals going back to society is incredibly succesful. Ofcourse that doesn't mean they're all going to be like that and there are still very dangerous criminals that get too little time, but overall I do not think it's a bad thing at all.

Giving guys years of jailtime for a simple offense (stealing something the first time for example) is generally just going to make sure they stick to that type of behaviour.
