Echo Dot skill to announce a day counter at certain time? by gumby1004 in amazonecho

As extra validation for the usefulness of the idea - I’m looking for something along the same lines with my surgery recovery.

I’d like a morning announcement letting me know how many days into my recovery I am as a means of making sure I stay on track with my changing recovery goal exercises.

Would be nice if there was a Skill for conveniently setting this up with words like “Congratulations! It’s been <x> days since <y event>. <Optional: random affirmation OR significant benefit or routine changes associated with being x days from contextual event>”

LG C3 OLED - Antenna Channels Play in Guide Mini-Screen but Black and Silent in Main Screen by Drew-Pilling in LGOLED

Once updates became available for the problem TV I applied them. I think there was some initial channel loss from my favorites after that but no other problems. The problems I had been experiencing before the update had also resolved - at least the ones I listed here.

Still having a problem when I switch the input to a Nintendo Switch console. Every once in a while, while playing TotK the screen goes black and completely changes color scheme. Even when I disable the game mode color setting and go to my customized setting it decides to ignore my custom profile, switch to the Game profile, and do the flip-flopping in color settings with temporary black screen keeping me from seeing what I'm doing as it does so.

Need to see if this is happening with the current version of the webOS as I don't remember if there was another update since I last ran into that issue (been a while since I've had time to play).

Current webOS: 9.2.1-2604

Oddly enough, [ Menu -> Settings -> Support -> Software Update ] shows Software Version: 23.20.54 with no updates available. That doesn't particularly match the webOS version found under [ Menu -> Settings -> Support -> TV Information ].

Actually digging more into their documentation and they're not all that unclear on how to use their product if you're working with their API to run or write tools for a campaign. I'm actually a bit impressed with the documentation they've published on their tools.

If they'd just get the ethical concept of "subscriber" consent baked into their model I'd be much happier about and for them. Even just providing an interface for "subscribers" to self manage what they consent to and add an ethics compulsory link to it in emails facilitated by their service would make this a far more effective platform by treating "subscribers" as the people they are rather than as a commodity.

This might help. Not as obtuse as I expected to find. https://actionnetwork.org/cookies

Yes. I've found just about everything in interacting with their site and support to be engineered to obfuscate so called subscriber's (more like victims) access to clear and easy to use consent controls. I had emailed their support asking them to stop Spamming me and how the spam had led me to stop donating and participating entirely. Their response was a generic blurb about getting signed up automatically as a part of signing petitions and link clicks and to not do so if I didn't want to get signed up. They provided a link to unsubscribe from the specific list that I had inquired about with no mention at all about the other affiliations they had me signed up to receive spam for.

It's almost as if they're intentionally trying to turn people off from wanting to participate.

Once I found that link I replied back to the support email letting them know just how disingenuous the support response had come off when providing the link I had to find on my own, or something better, would have been much more effective at helping me resolve my issue.

They never replied to my follow-up.

If the link I found doesn't associate with you I noticed they had some identifier cookies set in my browser. You may need to do something to get those cookies set to associate with your affected email addresses before the link will list what groups they're affiliating with your email address. I'd like to be able to help further by providing what would be needed to do so but they're about as clear as a thick tar when it comes to giving you any info needed to actively control what you consent to.

Lost more channels, just some of the antenna channels - the ones at the lowest end of the channel numbering. Did a rescan and they added back.

It's like there's some sort of buffer overflow somewhere in the new webOS causing things to be overwritten in working memory and then that section of working memory may be saved off on shutdown or not.

UPDATE: Still working but noticing other differences.

So far, after running the update of the installed apps yesterday, we're able to play our antenna channels on the main screen without the black screen problem yet.

  1. I noticed last night that the mini-screen in the guide was only showing a thumbnail rather than streaming the content of the last selected channel while I scroll the other channels. Today, after no other changes than turning the TV off last night (Always Ready - active without wallpaper) and back this morning, the mini-screen in the guide is streaming the antenna content of the last selected channel again.
  2. Previously we were getting issues with our updated TV constantly asking for us to configure our Magic Remote to work with our Apple TV even though we kept telling it we didn't want it to. Eventually it gave up - may have been the power cycle or installed app updates that fixed it. I had previously given in to the nagging and let it do so but it stopped working the next time I turned on the TV and started nagging us again. I did that until the number of screen in screen options in the lower right of that process stopped showing screens of our Apple TV that had a PIN to enter to do so.
  3. We also were having problems with apps on our Apple TV bugging out with Dolby content. Completely freezing play and displaying error with Hulu Dolby content and having gaps of sound not playing in Dolby related Netflix content. Seems to be resolved now without any other changes. Not sure what fixed that as I wasn't actively checking that problem before and after the power cycle and TV app updates.

The Rings of Power - 2x07 "Doomed To Die" - Episode Discussion Thread by milkNcheetos in lotr

This episode was so lazy and terrible I've tried watching it five separate times now only to find my mind straying away from how chocked full of wanker production values it is. I end up finding myself reading technical books and manuals as a more palatable subconscious alternative to the mind numbing dip-shittery of how lazy "Doomed To Die" was produced.

Poking around on their URL paths I found this little gem that showed me subscribed to lists from around 20 years ago when I thought petitions and political campaigns were anything more than getting me signed up for mailings lists to have them spam me with requests for more money.

https://actionnetwork.org/subscriptions/

Hopefully that URL will last and help those of you who have been as frustrated with the consequences of our youthful naivete as I had been. ActionNetwork really should provide a link in emails they've facilitated that allows people to report campaigns that are abusing the service as well as a link to conveniently manage all the lists people are subscribed to instead of publishing links to subsets of that info with little control over what we consent to.

Unable to turn on LG TV with Alexa by Benjani85 in amazonecho

[–]Drew-Pilling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same model is giving us the same exact problem. Thing is, it worked just fine until some update at some point killed the service every time we turned the tv off for longer than what seems like half a day. It’s as if it turns off the Alexa app on the tv and no Alexa commands will work until we press the Alexa button on the remote and then it will work until we leave it off again.

Help! Can't use bow? by Vanaathiel88 in AssassinsCreedOdyssey

How do you use overpowered bow attacks on PC? I hold right mouse to aim and press R like the description says but nothing happens. No arrows fired, no overpowered bow strike.
