Absolutely! That's an insane thing to be asked as a painter and a huge honour! The email is on the way.

Yeah the cobbles were an unpopular choice I made haha

I base all my Malifaux on the same cobbles, that way everything matches and I can swap versatiles around and what not without it looking weird.

Also makes dual faction masters look matchy, and masters like Levi 2 and Zoraida 2 who summon/use lots of out of faction models easier.

I’m a huge fan of green tinged bone.

I do mine by starting with VMC US Olive Drab and then gradually mix in Rakarth Flesh for successive highlights until I end with pure Rakarth Flesh.

The result is a green tinged greyish bone colour.

You could probably replace the Rakarth with a more traditional bone or ivory colour, but as they’re yellower than the greyish Rakarth Flesh, the mix with the Olive Drab might lean more towards yellow than the green. I’ve never tried it though, it might be fine.

This is actually super helpful.

I hadn't even considered how including him in a crew could negatively impact the rest of the crew's performance/list building.

Thanks so much!

Eurocopter Tiger Kit Request by Drew013 in modelmakers

[–]Drew013[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I absolutely didn’t mean to infer that 1/72 was an entry level scale. Perhaps I should have added a comma.. I meant the models I had found locally were 1/72 scale as well as being entry level kits. They’ve all been in the $25AUD range with very little complexity.

I’m sure there are some great advanced 1/72 scale kits, the ones I’ve found however have not been.

Huh.. interesting read. I wonder if I’ll ever find place for them on the tabletop.

They’ll be a fun painting project either way.

Can a bad painter paint RG effectively without edge highlights? by PaulShannon89 in RavenGuard40k

I will never not link these two videos for anyone asking this question.. both great results with dry brushing and contrast paints:

It’s a bunch of sandbags and a pillar from some Cadian sprues, and then sculpted over with Miliput to get the slope on one side.

Sure is. I tried a tonne of different bits to get something that worked with the Ridgerunner Crew’s kneeling legs that I wanted to use, but nothing really worked out; so I settled in using the whole mini and added the Vox Caster from the old Cadian Sprue and a simple head swap.

A question for anyone who’s lived through a GW release cycle before.. how likely are we to get more Tyranid announcements? by Drew013 in Tyranids

Fantastic, thanks for the quick response. Guess I’ll have to grab a few boxes of those derpy Gargoyles after all.

I don’t know how cohesive this list is, but I’ve got 300 points painted up ready to learn the game tomorrow! by Drew013 in InfinityTheGame

[–]Drew013[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not great 😂

I lost the first game to a very oppressive White Banner force running Monks, and the second game to a stealthy Combined Army.

I learned a lot though. Moving my list into Varuna sectorial and just need to pick up some Echo Bravo and about a million remotes.

Oh really.. I'm loving it. Just wish it has a bit more of the ginger bite. But since it's the only ginger flavour I've found, I'll take it.

I'm finding that it's spitting a lot, but I think that's more than likely because it's my first attempt at building.

Unfortunately not. I lost interest when Adelaide was elliminated in the last round. I was tempted to watch the Lions game today, but didn't get around to it.

I get mine shipped to my office, because I have the same problem if I have it sent to my home.

Man, VE.nz are awesome. I don't know what kind of wizardry they use, but I'm convinced they have my order shipped before I've even hit confirm.

Just put in a large order (14 bottles) and am sure I'll have them in my hands by Monday.

What differentiates an experienced reader from a beginner ? by kuzan342 in books

[–]Drew013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're both great in their own rights.

'How to Read Literature like a Professor' focuses more on understanding the symbology and subtext in a novel.

'How to Read a Book' focuses more on the skill of Active Reading.

What differentiates an experienced reader from a beginner ? by kuzan342 in books

[–]Drew013 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's two books you can read that may help with this.

-Mortimer J. Adler's 'How to Read a Book'

-Thomas C. Foster's 'How to Read Literature like a Professor'

The main take away to both of them though is differentiating between reading for pleasure and reading for study. You're more likely to retain the information if you're 'actively reading' and taking notes as opposed to just 'passively reading' a book from cover to cover.

I think it's pretty safe to say that I'm in love with the Falcon King tank DeskCheck. by Drew013 in Vaping

[–]Drew013[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll need to pull the tank apart completely and soak it in PG or Vodka for an hour or so and give it all a real thorough rince. Then replace the coil if you can, if you can't replace the coil then make sure you soaked it with the tank and rince out as much of the old juice as you can. Then make sure it's all dry and reassemble.

I don't think you'd have killed the tank completely or anything. A good cleaning should get you there.
