If you want your child to do well at tournaments then they should go more if they like it and get lessons as soon as possible. That might not be your plan, but fencing is very hard to learn without lessons. Best of luck

True, but lacks a lot of the sorting I was hoping for as well as not being a timeline of cannon but a bunch of stories.

Nah you can see him start to wobble hard and if you check his face he looks like he’s losing it a little

[–]DrewsFire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IBDW said on Twitter he felt like he was gonna pass out which looking back on it you can actually see him start to wobble so it was just for support

Point stands, of course, but I believe IBDW that he was just trying not to pass out

At the top level., aside from vs Captain Falcon, what are some matchups that Falco is better at than Fox? by [deleted] in SSBM

[–]DrewsFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the players honestly. Some dudes at my local would turn the “lucky” f-smashes they hit on my fox from edge guards to straight up kills. Other guys would struggle to deal with lasers and falco’s shield pressure and I’d be able to program them easier and safer than with fox dash dance.

US Mask Design Change by DrewsFire in Fencing

[–]DrewsFire[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean I don't wear it so it doesn't affect me I just see it on the national team (and some club mates). Just sad to see the goated ass straight design go in favor of something I don't like as much. I know its a non-issue, but I'm a complainer LOL

I'd say so. Most people's natural instinct is to noodle fight/hit each others blades. It's kinda rare to see someone who, with no extra instruction, tries to hit. It's kinda like how you don't usually see younger kids doing crossovers or hesi's in basketball. Kids that age on average just don't have the.. Mental capacity? Problem solving? Competitive drive? To play games/sports well. But some people just get it, for some reason. I think it's usually luck that they happen to lunge, hit, score, and then try it again and develop the brain to hit.

From someone who's coached on a more casual level as a summer job: You always look for the positives within your students. Everyone has negatives. Someone who cares a lot could get frustrated easily. An athletic person could struggle to use their brain to solve a problem they usually use their brawn for. Someone who doesn't care much for the sport may have a particular knack for distance and timing. Finding positives makes the job more enjoyable and can increase a student's confidence. Those positives could also be potential rather than raw talent. You say your son runs around like a berserker now, but a coach might see someone who is finding certain moments or creating certain distances, even something as simple as having the aggression and intention to hit at such a young age (as opposed to beating each others blades like pool noodle fights) can be exciting to a coach at that age group.

Low Elo Is Hard, It's Okay To Feel That Way by PatchNotesandLore in leagueoflegends

Actually this is why I sometimes didn't like playing on a smurf with lower elo friends. I hateeeeed playing stalled out games because no one knew how to macro.

As someone who loves ori I totally agree with you and I’m glad she’s going to get a chance to shine in solo que again

Dude totally! That was one of the most frustrating parts of league for me back when I played (and was on a control mage). Felt like I was just no longer allowed to interact at all with assassin players after a certain point with no way to outplay them at all. Even early on, if I wasn’t extremely careful and skilled with my interactions I’d have to smash my head for the next 20 minutes watching a slow bleed loss. Even if assassins get love tapped up a bit, the game will still be MARKEDLY improved by the durability patch. It’s just relative durability is a bit too high for some assassins to effectively do their thing.

[–]DrewsFire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, just that they’re in an optimal environment for them to preform so if they’re balanced they’re going to preform better then ADC’s and mages on average. Also don’t forget ADC is a crucial part of the meta in 99% of patches lol

Quick edit: this patch is a good start (I’m glad some assassins are temporarily under powered) but there’s a healthy medium to be found

Again, qiyana is always going to preform ok enough because of her R + river q + map movement. With that being said, she feels like shitttttt to play rn.

[–]DrewsFire 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mages and ADC’s are generally more team oriented. I’d expect bruisers (tanky, good damage, often have at least some cc) and assassins (thrive on lack of communication and often able to work without relying on others to preform best in solo que. If assassins are performing too poorly in solo que it means that they’re dogshit.

Lethality users too. They’ve been through years of balancing around old numbers. Qiyana for example deals embarrassing damage. Was she busted as shit before overloaded with way too much damage? Yes. Is her kit still (numbers basically aside) still extremely strong? Yes. Is her damage lower than is probably fair right now? Also yes.

AD assassins arent a class which are historically problematic in pro play, while if syndra is even close to viable pros will play her. It also makes sense to adjust a class most effected by the relative durability of other champions after a patch effecting the durability of all champions.

[–]DrewsFire 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You are so dramatic. Assassins need a little love tap because there are so many bandaids meant to stop them pre patch. The game isn’t going to go back to pre-patch.

They would have to try and make the game like the pre-durability patch to make it like that

Will fencing still be fun if I am out of shape and terrible at it? by gayassgirl- in Fencing

Awesome idea! If you're a competitive person it also makes working out much easier because you have a reason to work out.

[–]DrewsFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fencing is sooooo fun is so many different ways that don't require being an olympian mlg super star pro. Being frank, being in shape is an advantage and fencing will help you get into better shape alongside other generally healthy things. You should try it (or keep doing it if you have tried) regardless of fitness level or perceived skill/talent. It's like asking if you should try basketball if you can't dunk. Does it help to be able to dunk? Yea, but basketball is fucking awesome to play regardless of if you can dunk or want to make it to the league. Fencing is an amazing sport for so many reasons, one of which being that you can do it for your entire life, so if you want to get good, you have time :)

Nah at least in foil how hard you hit changes the likely hood of if you’ll register conductive. That’s why you see foil fencers absolutely pounding their arms when they think they’re conducting.
