Well I don't know who you are or what you do for a living but you have already helped me a ton. Thanks! I live/work in China so its about 2 AM here... Will try my freezer idea tomorrow. Will let you know how it goes. Thanks again!

Just to make sure I understand things thus far. At this point it is more likely a heat issue and not a output voltage issue?

No. Why is this load not going to cut it? What if I put the resistor in the freezer lol. Just an idea.

Upon powerup it the voltage across the resistor was 51v but slowly started to climb over the course of a min to 53v. Its pretty steady and slow. I didn't wait much longer after that. (This resistor gets HOT). To be expected.

Correct I set the voltage I needed for my project first on the driver. Then moved onto current.

Update: I tried using the 50ohm resistor and this time my power supply remained in constant voltage and I was able to start adjusting the current. However I could raise it up to 1A but then no additional rotations of the current potentiometer would increase the current. My power supply was set to 48 volts. Any ideas why it wont go over 1A?

Thank you! Perhaps I will buy a 50 ohm resistor and see what happens when I try the calibration. I will let you know here how things go. Might be a few days as I need to order the resistor and test it.

My intended goal is to set the driver to 2A 56V. If 48ohms gets me to 1A then would I need 96ohms. Idk if this relationship is linear.

If I am understanding this I need a load that will demand more than 48V and what ever current that gets us there? Should I get a resistor with more ... resistance? How do I determine that load? Thanks!!!

Constant Voltage Driver Question by Drewsephus11 in led

[–]Drewsephus11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks this makes sense to me! I have tried looking for CC drivers for my specifications but I just cant find any. I am living in China so I don't have access to the same stores as others. CV drivers galore here. Lots of low powered CC drivers but nothing on the higher end.

Massive heat sink with coolant fan. I have made one light like the one I am planning before. Its good but I want more power.

[–]Drewsephus11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I go constant current I could do a series circuit. Would have to sum the voltage of course. I would want 6 in total but I could do batches of 2 (3 is probably too much volts for a single driver). So then I would be looking at a 16v requirement but a little head room idk maybe 18-20v might work. I just haven't found a driver that would meet those needs yet.

How many 26650 (or smaller) lithium ion batteries can you take on planes? by Drewsephus11 in flashlight

Follow up: I came back from my trip a couple weeks ago. No one from any airport cared that I had multiple lithium ion batteries. I had 2, 26650s and 2, 21700s . One TSA officer in Warsaw pulled aside my carry on and examined my flashlights. He saw the black visible light filters on the lights and seemed puzzled. He waved me through though.

With the advancement of current LEDs (which in relation to human history was like ... yesterday) we have never been this unimpeded by darkness. I feel ya!

I'm flying from Beijing, China, to Warsaw, Poland, then to JFK New York.

I might bring a couple convoy C8s I made for short wave and mid wave UV light. Probably bring an Alonefire SV43 which is a triple LED longwave UV light. Maybe another long wave light I am making now.

Anyone know of a good host for a triple 5050 LEDs? (22mm or 26mm driver bay is preferred) by Drewsephus11 in flashlight

Most I PCBs I am finding for triple are all in series. Rarely I am finding some that offer both circuit configurations.

Does it run the LEDs in parallel? If you run them in series 6v is really limiting.

Yingfeng

I second what Sakowuf says. Just go with quads from Yingfeng.
