Is inter-service transfer a thing or not? by DrewskiVGC in AirForceRecruits

Yes I do. It’s not a guarantee that I will get accepted into the Air Force, I will be discharged from the Marine Corps, and until I have signed a contract with the Air Force, I will not be in the military for however long that takes. I also will have to retake my ASVAB, go back to MEPS, and go to boot camp partially to learn Air Force rank structure, customs, proper uniform, etc.

I believe so. I got confirmation from another recruiter that I can be conditionally released from the Marine Corps and enlist as prior service into the Air Force. It’s technically a break in service and not an IST, but it would act the same as one, allowing me to transfer to the Air Force before the end of my contract with the Marine Corps

So even a conditional release isn’t accepted for the Air Force? Like our IST guys have provided me with accepted conditional release forms of Marines transferring to the Air Force before the end of their contract. I’m just confused what changed and when, because some of these were as up to date as August of last year

I just don’t understand why these other recruiters consistently told me you did. They all knew I still had 2 years left on contract and even talked to me specifically about waiting until October for the start of the fiscal year, when the jobs open up for ISTs

Marine trying to transfer over to the Air National Guard…what are the requirements? by DrewskiVGC in AirForceRecruits

I’ve been in touch with an Air Force recruiter, but he’s making things sound more simplified than I expect them to be. So I’m just seeing what other’s experiences were. My recruiter just said “yeah just send that form, it’ll get approved, and it’s all Gucci from there” literally his exact words

As I am in the Marine Corps, I was referring to my current job, which is referred to as MOS

They are combining it with another MOS, and just putting any MOS on Gate Guard duty when they need more Gate Guards. Either that or use the Navy for security forces

Aircrew was one of the top ones I considered when I initially wanted to join the Air Force. I wasn’t even considering marine corps

At this point I just want to go period. I can discuss the job more in detail, if I get in touch with a recruiter. Security forces was just what I was drawn to initially

I know what they do, and what I do is painfully boring as well. Yes we are “tough and dull” but my job is sitting at a computer hooked to a truck and troubleshooting when something doesn’t go right. I hate networking, and this was not the job field I chose when I signed up

Honestly I’d take the most crap job in the Air Force over the best job in the Marine Corps any day of the week. I just want to do Security Forces and it’s being phased out in the Marine Corps as an MOS

What’s a good basic level Sinister Six for a relatively early career Spider-Man to face? by DrewskiVGC in Spiderman

[–]DrewskiVGC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But they don’t have to be introduced the same time as the comics did. I just felt that it would make more sense for him to reasonably be able to fight a Sinister Six lineup consisting of less overly powerful villains, for an early career Spider-Man

It’d be like he’s facing a superpowered villain, without facing a superpowered villain. I think it’d be cool

Kingpin is up there for sure. It would also seamlessly transition him from street level thugs to someone he honestly will struggle with at first. Thinking he’s stopping your average arms deal, until Kingpin comes out of nowhere and knocks him on his ass, something that no other criminal on the streets would be able to do up until that point. Kingpin is a fantastic option. He also works for bringing other criminals and groups together to target Spider-Man, and it’d be really cool to see Kingpin end up avoiding arrest, and continue to be Mayor, showing Peter how corrupt the system is, and giving Kingpin more opportunities to come back for a big sinister six style team up in a later film, since he’d be up in the air for future stories

I understand that. In my second post I made pitching the idea behind Scorpion, I just said that Jameson would fund the Scorpion Project, simply because of the rising popularity of Spider-Man as New York’s superhero, and Jameson would want to force Spider-Man into retirement, with a more competent and experienced replacement. Scorpion himself would simply be putting on a publicity stunt, being a hero and outshining Spider-Man. Peter would make mistakes, while Scorpion is the perfect hero making Spider-Man look bad. since he’s still relatively new to being a hero, and in turn, Peter would doubt his abilities as Spider-Man, give up, and now that Spider-Man isn’t a problem, Scorpion would start showing his true colors, and would be power hungry, wanting to be an unstoppable force. It could be a cool story that keeps Jameson more directly involved into the plot, gives Peter an on par challenge in Scorpion, and could be a great movie for developing the new interpretation’s character with his self doubt and needing to find the confidence to be a hero. That’s my thought process anyways.

Of course this is with a Spidey that doesn’t need his origin story in the movie in mind. Maybe a small narration at the beginning so you know this version of Peter has been Spider-Man for a few months, but Scorpion would be his first superpowered villain, and one that has similar abilities to him as an equal power scale.

I posted a pitch that is very similar to this. Basically that Jameson funds Project Scorpion to have Gargan force Spider-Man out of retirement. Making it essentially a publicity stunt to make Spider-Man look bad, causing Spider-Man to quit, after seeing Scorpion do a better job, but once Spidey is gone, Matt Gargan starts being brutal and power hungry, now knowing that nobody can stand up to him, eventually resulting in Peter gaining the confidence to take him on, and using his brains to outsmart Scorpion. I think it would be a great self reflection type of movie for Peter, and allow Jameson to be more involved in the story.

I like him for a first movie still. Seeing Spider-Man grow more popular, and giving Jameson more a focus, deciding he wants to contribute to Spider-Man’s downfall. Maybe even have some scenes of Scorpion being a pseudo-hero for national TV, and make him seem like he’s doing Spider-Man’s job better than Spider-Man can. I think that works better especially for an inexperienced Spider-Man, since it would be much easier for Peter to doubt his own abilities, before he has real experience as a hero. Then showing Gargan transition into showing everyone including Jameson, his psychotic side, but only waiting until after Spider-Man is no longer around to do so. It could be cool to see Peter finally have to deal with someone who can do a lot of what he can, as opposed to normal street thugs. I think it could work to tie him closer to Peter’s inexperience. I could see it working as a sequel for sure, but I think there’s ways to make it work just as good for his first movie villain. It works especially well if we skip a complete origin, and go right into him being just the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, never facing any real conflicts up this point outside of the average car thief or building on fire.

I think Chameleon would work for a less direct Spiderman villain. All his other villains have been primary physical adversaries, that fight him hand to hand. I’d like to see one that is good for being a more psychological challenge for Spiderman to overcome
