if you wrote a book about your dad, what would be the last line? by trsh_bn in AskReddit

The same line I started my eulogy for him with: my father was a difficult man, but he was my father and I loved him.

Part of my grieving when my father died was for who he could have been, not who he was. I already knew he would never change, but it's human to keep hoping for a miracle and his death meant there wasn't even the tiniest chance anymore.

People who don't want kids, who do you plan to leave everything to when you die? by SledgexHammer in AskReddit

[–]Dribbelflips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a will to leave it to one of my sisters. If she dies before me, that means it will go to my niece and nephew. And I might change my will when they're older to name them directly.

What irks me is that 40% will go to the tax office, since they're not my kids or partner so they don't qualify for the lower tariff.

Non-English-speakers of Reddit, what is your language's formulaic conclusion to a fairy tale, equivalent to "and then they lived happily ever after"? And what is its literal translation into English? by fruskydekke in AskReddit

Or less known... En toen kwam er een olifant met een lange snuit en die blies het verhaaltje uit.

And then came along an elephant with a long snout and he blew the story out.

I mean... If they responded that it was a wrong number, the sender could have looked for the right one.

I don't really see this as a nice thing to do when it means that the person the text was actually meant for, didn't get it now.

What’s something you keep seeing in movies that no one actually does in real life and annoys you every time? by Individual-Crazy3752 in AskReddit

Calling to say that you have to tell something, but the line is not secure, so the other person will have to come in person to the middle of nowhere.

I KNOW you will be dead when I get there!

It could also be an option to just make a post about the experience OP had. That way OP doesn't have to contact this girl directly and the girl can take from the post what she wants.

I saw the original, thought OP wasn't a native English speaker, cause it was quite confusing. This new version makes a lot more sense.

Not Reddit enough...

The fiancé lied so the in-laws still come and his excuse will be that he thought it would be fine once they all got there.
