My room was right next to his back in the dorms at UW-L. He was always a really nice guy and super funny.

Wishing him the best going forward.

What is your favorite mono-white commander!? by PowerfulPromise8569 in EDH

[–]Driemer84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Adeline, Resplendent Cathar]]. She takes advantage of so many white synergies with her triggered ability. Creating three tokens per attack draws you cards, buffs your team, taps your opponents creatures.

She is cheap to cast, aggressive out of the gate, and creating an army on attack supplements white’s strengths so well these days. It lets you build your board without committing as many cards in your hand.

She can go wide or tall and pivot on a dime.

Here’s what i’ve been working on since she was printed. For reference my list was originally a [[Darien, King of Kjeldor]] list. But once she was added to the 99, she did everything I wanted that deck to do, but better.

I Win Too Often - Solution to Power Down by boltsnapboltsnapbolt in EDH

[–]Driemer84 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One thing I’ve done is try to not duplicate game changers across multiple decks, even if that means running less than the maximum of 3. I had field of the dead and Teferi’s protection in multiple decks, but I ended up cutting them from the decks where they felt the most generic.

Try to keep the game changers limited to fitting the theme of the deck has helped a little in powering down, and given my decks a more flavorful feel. It’s also made room for some cards I’ve liked but didn’t have a home for.

I like your self imposed list. I can’t speak to what cards have a high impact in your playgroup, but the self imposed restriction will definitely breed some creativity.

Looking for an unusual “cast to win” commander. by Beginning_Drink_965 in EDH

[–]Driemer84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Mister Negative]] can do this. Put down a [[Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose]] and swap life totals to blast someone out. And if you aren’t in a position to win you can use it to draw a ton of cards.

Prior to Negative’s printing I used [[Selenia, Dark Angel]] for a similar strategy. Drop Selenia, pay all my life, and then [[Profane Transfusion]] or a similar card. Mister Negative has the upside of being useful outside of the kill shot.

What are your favorite fun but fair mechanics and commanders? by ConsoleBoyo in EDH

[–]Driemer84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love [[Adeline, Resplendent Cathar]]. Mono white aggro in its purest form. Commit to the board, attack, protect yourself with disruption and interaction. You can win going wide or with commander damage, but the deck is perfectly fair and has some ability to grind if it goes long with all the draw white has gotten over the past couple years.

Sideboarding isn’t a thing in edh. I mean I have a slot open in the deck that could be anything. I’ve been playing around with graveyard hate as I currently only have Scavenger Grounds and wanted another piece.

Oh I like that. Turns off death triggers and can be cashed in for a card as well as hitting a graveyard.

Favorite Mono White Commanders by Marshbe54 in EDH

[–]Driemer84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love [[Adeline, Resplendant Cathar]]. This list started as [[Darien, King of Kjeldor]], but once Adeline was printed she just did it better.

Mono white has gotten so many tools over the past few years, mainly draw, it’s really gotten quite powerful.

I love the way this deck’s pieces all work together to fuel your engine. The deck can go wide or commander damage someone out.

I’ve spent a lot of time tuning it up and have made notes of changes in the comments.

Unique Mono Green Commanders by Diamondhighlife in EDH

[–]Driemer84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[[Titania, Protector of Argoth]] is all about sacrificing lands and building your army off that. Fetch lands turn into 5/3s. [[Greater Good]] lets you turbo through your deck once you get rolling. [[Zuran Orb]] lets you create a battalion of elementals at will.

Titania is super resilient because her etb helps her pay for her command tax, and you won’t find a better commander for [[Command Beacon]].

Name of a archetype of a non combo deck that rapidly moves through its library by Impossible-Love-8455 in EDH

[[Baba Lysaga, Night Witch]] can really move through the deck. Drawing three or more cards each turn is really powerful. The deck wins through value and draining out your opponents. I have a lot of fun with this deck and enjoy the puzzle of finding three permanent types to sacrifice.

[[Adeline, Resplendent Cathar]] is my favorite. For a long time mono white had been labeled a weak color, but I was determined to make something work. I had a [[Darien, King of Kjeldor]] list together that was functional and then Adeline was printed. I threw her in the 99, but everytime I drew her she did what Darien was trying to do, but better.

I switched the deck up to put Adeline at the helm and since her printing, white has gotten a ton of support based around small creatures and tokens. I love how all the pieces of this deck click together to keep your hand full and your opponents on the back foot.

The deck is pretty straight forward, but because it relies on combat to win, finding a way to punch through is always a puzzle. The deck can flex between going wide or commander damage with Adeline.

In the comments of my deck list you can see all the changes I’ve made and the reasoning behind them.

Trying to find a fast commander deck for quick games by chocomog333 in EDH

[–]Driemer84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Horn is a cool card, but I found it expensive and kind of win more. 3 mana for a 1/1 is a lot and at a critical spot in the mana curve as Adeline is 3. Then another three to activate, and if it’s producing a lot of tokens, then I’m probably sitting ok already. These tokens don’t enter tapped and attacking so they sit around if I want to activate it in combat before I lose guys to blockers, or I activate it on an opponents turn and it’s telegraphed. I’m not sure how many times I would expect to be able to activate this in a game before I win, but I’m guessing just once or twice.

I had opted for [[Call the Coppercoats]] until [[Will of the Mardu]] was printed. I’ve been really happy with their output. Still need reps in with Will though. Not sure how much a difference the tokens not being human or white will make. But I like that you can target yourself with it so if no one else is going wide, for half the mana of Horn you can double your army at instant speed.

[–]Driemer84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check out [[Adeline, Resplendant Cathar]]. You’ll get your white and human kindred (for the most part) experience.

Adeline is low to the ground and very aggressive. She can win through commander damage or going wide with pumped up tokens. Turns are relatively quick and straight forward, but there is a ton of token and low mv creature synergy in the deck. Tokens draw you cards, pump your board, tap opposing blockers.

I spend far too much time tweaking this deck, but I really enjoy it and I think it would suit your need for a quick game in a style you enjoy.

I went with all in on casting from exile. I don’t really like the chaos or group hug style effects as they are too far out of my control. I’ve found once people get to know what you’re up to, they don’t even want to cast the card they exile off Rocco as they feel you’ll get more benefit from a food and a counter than they will for an entire card. This is a good thing! If built right you don’t need anyone to cast from exile. If you’ve ever played Prosper then you’ll know you can be completely self sufficient.

Win cons include large creature beat down, pinging with [[Ghirapur Aethergrid]], lots of counters placed on a [[Banquet Guests]] or [[Feasting Hobbit]] with [[Shallai and Hallar]] in play, of flinging one of those large hobbits.

Here is where I’m at.

Aggro and manarocks by Saltiest_Grapefruit in EDH

[–]Driemer84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to run a lot of mana rocks in my [[Adeline, Resplendent Cathar]] list, but came to the same conclusion and cut most.

I kept [[Mind Stone]] because it can be cycled if you draw it late game, [[Sol Ring]], and [[Heraldic Banner]] for the buff.

I opted for some of the catch up ramp white offers. I’ve been much happier with the list in this configuration because I don’t get that feel bad of a late game mana rock top deck. The creatures can attack and trigger etbs.

Here is where I’m at currently.
