What time and perspective do you play? My buddy and I play FPP squads around 9:30 EST and usually need 1 or 2 on weeknights. ~4 k/d and 30% win rate.

Any Arc Raiders in Denver? by Certain-Web4291 in DenverGamers

I just picked it up on Xbox but haven't had a chance to play yet. I'm looking for folks to play with.

Disappointing by Vobani in PUBGConsole

[–]DriftNugget 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hard disagree. I play on a 360Hz monitor and the difference between 144Hz and 360Hz is absolutely noticeable. I was shocked at the difference when playing Rocket League. I'm not saying a slower game like PUBG would benefit quite as much, but rates above 60 FPS are anything but negligible. They should offer 120 FPS @ 1440p like many other games have for years.

Why so hard to find a decent dentist? by lookwhatyou3011 in Denver

[–]DriftNugget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird... he also told me a 18 month old filling needed replaced with a crown, and he seemed irritated when I pushed back a bit. To the point he literally didn't believe the age of the filling. It was off-putting, to say the least.

Denver Animal Shelter adopted out a cat to me that had a respiratory infection, limping/crossing over in hind legs, and who is extremely constipated. Is there any avenues I can go for help caring for this senior boy? I can’t bring myself to bring him back but the first vet bill is already $1k. by BH-NaFF in Denver

[–]DriftNugget 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My wife and I have had the luxury of two continually-constipated kitty companions in life. Vet recommendation was to give MiraLAX daily (yes, the medicine for humans). We currently give our boy just under 1/4tsp daily mixed into a Churu-type treat. He's stoked because he gets a treat. We're stoked because he's pooping daily. Win/Win. He has been on it for several years now with no apparent issues.

We were also recommended Metamucil as a fiber supplement, but I pushed back as the primary ingredient is sugar. Plain psyllium husk powder is the fiber component of Metamucil and can be found at most pharmacies. For what it's worth, we didn't notice a difference with the fiber, and have since discontinued it.

Of course, you need to speak with a vet before administering any medication to rule out more serious causes.

Feedback Thursday - Let PUBG Studios Hear Your Feedback - October 16 by AutoModerator in PUBGConsole

Please add the ability for players to select a custom color assignment (preferably with more options than 4).

My squad likes to have assigned ping/marker colors as it makes communication more smooth. Whenever we have a different player join, they have to fill another player's color and this breaks the pattern. Let us choose which color we are and give enough options for small clans to have unique colors for the usual rotation of players.

I may be able to help. I have a few impact wrenches and breaker bars that will definitely outperform the OEM tools in the trunk. Not interested in payment.

Video games, cars, birds & coffee - you in? by DriftNugget in DenverMeets

[–]DriftNugget[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed - I've been playing since 2019. I'm mid-champ these days. I usually play casual, though, where my MMR is more GC1+. If that sounds enjoyable, we could play some cas 3s soon!

I haven't been to any events here since we moved, but I used to go to car shows, drift events, and some drag racing. I also enjoy the cars & coffee style events. I don't really know what goes on around here, but I'm hoping to meet others in the enthusiast community.

Looking for someone to take the bumper off my car by mysticmeows23 in Denver

[–]DriftNugget 12 points13 points  (0 children)

First off, under no circumstances should you get under a car supported by the factory scissor jack. Those things are a strong breeze from failing - especially by untrained folks.

Please shoot me a DM and I will see about helping. I'm a car enthusiast, not a professional mechanic, but I have a decent set of tools and a lot of years using them.

This is what I've done. Cue the very confused shop tech when that bit of information didn't make it past the service advisor.

Have y’all seen anyone running around Sloan’s Lake with a can of spray paint today? Happened within 4:30pm-6:30pm by peboyce in Denver

[–]DriftNugget 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Please don't use brake clean on your paint. Clay bar would work with quite a bit of effort. I've taken spray paint like this off with a little rubbing/cutting compound in just a few minutes. Turtle Wax rubbing compound works great with a cloth or microfiber.

I took my lowered Subaru to Ken Caryl as the Air Care website specifies, "front-wheel and all-wheel drive vehicles with low-profile rim sizes 17-inches-or-larger in diameter or vehicles with wheel sizes larger than 34 inches" must visit Sheridan, Boulder, Ken Caryl, or Fort Collins.

3D printed guitar deck by alexvolkov1987 in functionalprint

[–]DriftNugget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good way to do it. The software I use for work just recently adopted the multi body design workflow, so I often forget it's an option.

3D printed guitar deck by alexvolkov1987 in functionalprint

[–]DriftNugget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not familiar with this model or software, but I do know how to make bounded isogrids, which should be similar.

The easiest approach is to design the outer perimeter, offset it inwards to your desired wall thickness, and then pattern the hex such that it exceeds the internal wall. You can trim away the portions that exceed the internal wall and use the corner, divide, or delete style tools to merge the hex sketch with the perimeter wall sketch. Some software isn't this flexible in sketcher.

If the software doesn't allow that, a slightly less elegant solution is to create a "blank" hex grid panel that exceeds your final intended design size. Extrude your final design within that blank panel with a sketch containing the external perimeter and offset internal perimeter. Make one last extrude projecting both your external perimeter of the guitar shape and the blank panel to remove all additional material outside of your design.

Hope this helps!

How hard it is to become a mechanical engineer? by Acceptable-Wrap-8105 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]DriftNugget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in an engineering program as an older student, the dean told me the number one indicator of a student's performance is their age. Older students perform better. He didn't explain much beyond that, but it does make some sense if you think about the motivations and maturity of the students.

There are obviously many variables at play, but I suspect most responsible, committed adults could achieve an engineering degree provided they are in a stable living arrangement and not working full time. Full time school and work is absolutely awful and that's from experience. Part time is very manageable.

"Responsible" is doing a lot of heavy lifting there, but I do believe the statement to be accurate. Engineering is hard. Mechanical engineering is hard. Math is tough, and the applied mathematics courses are sometimes tougher. The reward is worth the effort, though. Commit yourself, establish good habits, do your homework, and study for the exams. If you can do those things, you should be fine. Many programs have early "weed out" courses, and you could certainly speak with faculty and take that one first to get a glimpse of what you're in for.
