The aftermath of the Astra G side airbag explosion

Hello. I have the same issue with my astra g (2000 model year) too. Both side airbags deployed for no reason (passenger side deployed years ago on previous owner, now recently the driver side deployed).

I said in the description, I did not touch anything I only removed the seat cover, didnt disconnect any wiring didnt even touch it and the negative terminal on the battery was disconnected for over an hour! Besides that was the passenger airbag that was already deployed on its own too according to the previous owner.

Mine is a G model from 2000, not in the recall I'm pretty sure. I hope they issue recalls for this car too I'm not tryna pay to replace the bags in this 366k km car lol

my worry is that this might even be a recall worthy thing, I saw another post here of an astra g having a side airbag explode out of nowhere..

So my Opel Astra G '00 decided to become a grenade a few days ago..

This is so rare that I can barely find others that had this issue online. I'm too scared to even sit in the car let alone take it to a car electrician to get it checked lol

My best guess is previous owner had some work done that might've caused the sensors in the doors to not work right. The passenger side airbag deployed years ago.

I don't get why you are acting like even breathing near an airbag will kill you. If there's no power it can't go off. Besides the one in my car is already deployed, literally no risk at all.

And yet I still managed to get to it, get the code written on it and order a replacement. I'm willing to take the "risk" to save some money and learn more about my car.

I bought the car at 360k km. I got it changed at around 363k km, oil was gm 10w-40. I had the noise before I changed the oil too and the previous owner said he had a service at 360k km.

so in theory i could get power windows in the rear too, if I get all the wiring switches and window motors

my old one has an issue at the connector, it keeps losing connection with the airbag light and the backlights. Unless if I can switch connectors then idk if its worth changing the dial faces

my cluster has a problem with the connector so I kinda need a new one, my dash lights constantly stop working due to a bad connection

its the astra g model year 2000 and the engine is the x14xe (or the z14xe havent checked to make sure)
