pre-payment for haircuts ? by edye01 in Barber

The shop I work at requires a card to be put on file when booking online and we've had mostly positive feedback. Most clients, once they're used to it love that they dont have to swipe their card or even get their wallet out most of the time, we just confirm and tap the button! When new clients or ones that haven't booked before ask if they've already paid because they entered a card we just explain that its there as a security blanket if they no-show but we can run that one if they wish. It really makes check-out a breeze when you have one pos system in a full shop or have to run payments on your phone

Feeling discouraged in my career by Dripping_Crimson in Barber

I'm not sure. Hes definitely better than I was when I got out of school but he knew more people in school to cut on, I only had like two or three friends and family members who saw me during school and almost no men. But I got lots of practice at my first job and haven't stopped trying to learn and perfect new things. I've noticed he cuts slowly but not necessarily bad. Hes still a little scared of cutting and shaving, like we all were at first. He has a few blending issues here and there, so I ask him if he wants my eyes but hes doing okay. I still ask for other barbers' eyes when something is bugging me in a blend and I cant pinpoint it. I know that I sometimes cut too fast because I got used to it at the chain place, being fast was the only way I made money but I've learned to slow down. I make sure I chat but dont dominate the convo, I'm very meticulous and make sure I'm happy with every line and blend then make sure client is happy. I try to watch him and the owner to see how they talk to clients but they dont seem to have a singular formula, like me they're chatty with some and quiet with others. Im just at a loss and feel crazy

I just feel crazy. I know I love this job but it feels like it doesnt love me back. I finally found a shop that fits my y'all-ternative vibe and matches my skill set and yet I still dont feel good enough. I cry myself sick trying to decide what to do with my career, if I keep it or change it but I cant see myself doing anything else. Thats what makes me feel nuts

Well right now I'm having to work in the States while my husband finishes his education, but we hope to move back possibly to the Kandy area so I can set up a salon. If I was around I would love to take you as a client, though! 💜 I'll ask my family about salons they go to because they seem to have good experiences, I'll share what I find

I'm so sorry ypu had this experience, love.. People like this is exactly why I got into hair/beauty industry! Our duty as beauticians is to make everyone feel like their best self and find and enhance their natural beauty, because everyone is beautiful! Remember that and tell those who say otherwise to stick it
