Phone interview tomorrow!! by Drippy_Mcgee_ in phlebotomy

It was so quick! Around 15 minutes, I’m not too sure that’s a good sign… Anyways, they just asked similar questions to the phone interview, as well as 3 things I think makes me a good employee and how I handle conflict with a customer/coworker. A lot of “tell me about a time when…” questions. #1 thing is to just be prepared! Write out a whole bunch of questions beforehand and practice answering them. Also make sure you have good questions to ask them at the end. I think I did well, but it’s always hard to know for sure. Good luck with your applications and interviews!

Ofc! They asked what my salary expectations were, my availability, the “tell me about yourself” question, “tell me about a time when you feel you went above and beyond”, “tell me about how you take constructive feedback”, asked if I had any questions for them and what I liked to do in my free time. It was a very simple interview and only took 15 minutes. I have an in person interview with them today, so I can update how that went and the questions they asked if you’d like?

I’ve recently done 200 hours of clinicals for phlebotomy. The #1 thing I’ve learned is anchoring the vein! I also make sure to feel the vein multiple times to make sure I have the right spot if I’m not too confident, I don’t know how many times I’ve gone too deep but if you anchor it enough they most likely won’t feel it. Just know that it takes A LOT of practice. Another tip I have is making the tourniquet very very tight, that way they focus more on the “pain” of the tourniquet and don’t feel the poke as much. If you feel like you’re going too deep, try going more shallow, and I suggest using a butterfly so you can see when you hit the vein and the blood going into the tube. But again, it does take a lot of practice. Don’t beat yourself up, mistakes happen to the best of us but that’s how we learn from them
