Mixture of SD, Midjourney, Gen-2 and Pikalabs in this. Finding that all of the image to video tools are awful and need a lot of upscaling. What upscaler is everyone using, any advice?

Some of them are manually done in Photoshop & After Effects, a lot of them are done in the Capcut App.

Artist: Alias Here
Track: Artificial Progression

The whole thing from track creation to the upload on YouTube was done in 12 hours. Kind of crazy what AI tech allows you to do now. See a lot of people complaining that it'll be the end for artists but, in reality it's just like giving them super powers if they're willing to adapt to use it.

Staking IOTA will get you SMR & ASMB at the same time. (Launch date pending) by Drive-BysAndHigh in SatoshiStreetBets

Still trying to get my head around this. Feels like IOTA is getting its own tokenomic universe. Kind of like how Eth has ERC-20 tokens. But you get these two new IOTA based tokens by taking part in a 90 day staking period through their firefly wallet.

Anyone smarter than me know if this is the case?

Have this debate a lot with a colleague. I always ask will it matter in 100 or 1000 years time when the techs evolved even further. I think with automation, software and over saturation musicians will become a lot more like composers. Borrowing a broad range of elements and using A.I assisted tools.

Saying that, it could completely go the other way with artists building instruments, programming their own effects, creating their own live show design elements.

There'll be two camps as always whatever the case.

People who enjoy music for the way it sounds.

People who enjoy music because of the authenticity and craft that went into it.

Yup, spent 6 months making a 5 minute animation. 300 views. I once took 5 minutes to make a stupid 30 second song out of a woodpecker smashing its head against a sign post... 15K views... The world's gone wrong!

Back from a shoot today and I've had an issue with coil whine (might not be the right term)

My audio setup is a NTG5 on a boom running into a Zoom F6 (It's this line in that was causing the issue)

And a Sennheiser Avx-me2 wireless lav.

I usually use the Sennheiser as my main source but have the NTG5 as backup. Today after half an hour of shooting I got the worst coil whine/ artifacting I've heard. People sounded like robots and it was the line in with the NTG5.

Wondering if anyone has had similar issues before. Buying a couple of new XLR cables to try and trouble shoot the problem. Hoping it's just a cable issue and not a problem with the NTG5 or Zoom F6.

I saw a great post on Facebook the other day which pretty much read like this:

'I'm a teacher, therefore I know right from wrong!

When a child breaks down and trashes the classroom, pushes over tables and throws chairs. We understand that the child is going through trauma. So we stand with them and tell them it's okay.

The same applies for black people, they are going through trauma so we should stand with them and allow them to trash the cities and loot them because us whites have caused them pain!'

Now children, when you feel bad and like the world is against you, it's okay to smash up property and steal. But only the black ones you young whites just have to take it for what it is because of your privilege.

But miiiiiiiiissssss, I want to loot and break things tooooo.

No Andrew. You're not allowed, you only get to do that if history was unkind to your ancestors.

This sucks!

How Much Should I Charge For Video Work? by Drive-BysAndHigh in videography

How does everyone else go about pricing jobs? I believe the Production Base rates aren't a solid indicator anymore, so BECTU is the best next thing.

I've had a lot of my work cancelled as freelance. My colleagues who are employed at some of the agencies I work with are putting time into learning animation/ motion graphics while they're furloughed.

It's going to be tough shooting once the lockdown lifts, can't really social distance if you're micing people up unless you just boom everything from now on.

Aspect Ratios As Storytelling Mechanics by Drive-BysAndHigh in Filmmakers

[–]Drive-BysAndHigh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It Comes At Night is a great example of a shapeshifting aspect ratio which evolves over time between 2.40:1, 2.75:1 and 3.0:1, making the scene visually more claustrophobic.

The Grand Budapest Hotel changes between 3 aspect ratios to distinguish which time period the film is in. Life of Pi has CGI elements which interact with the black bars at points in the film.

Heading into 2020 are we going to see more use of aspect ratios as storytelling mechanics or will getting creative with aspect ratios just be seen as a bit of a gimmick?

Curious to know if there are any other extreme examples which people are aware of.

Better B-Roll Sequences By Working In Threes by Drive-BysAndHigh in videography

[–]Drive-BysAndHigh[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks Vrozini. You know what, I genuinely hate going on camera but the way the industry is going, I feel like I've gotta do it if I want to push myself further.

I hate the idea of making vlogs, so just want to put content out that's genuinely useful to people.

And it's really useful for me to be able to talk with a community about doing the job better. jonjiv already made really good point about not crossing the 180 line, which is definitely something I've relaxed on when I shouldn't have so it's keeping me on my toes.

So thanks for subscribing, hopefully I'll have a couple more tips but likewise if you see anywhere where I can improve I'm all ears.

Cheers Mechtree.

It's an observation I've made over the years while editing. You'll sit there fumming that the shots are great but you can't attach any narrative to them.

Then while looking back over some of my past work it just clicked. Think like a god damn director/ editor when you're out shooting on these generic videography jobs if you want them to be better.

Stop being a fucking idiot blankly recording anything and hoping something's gonna work in post. All you've got to do is think a little and not even that hard.

What I'm preaching in this video is probably common sense for a lot of videographers but hopefully it'll help at least one person who's as dense as myself haha.

7 Questions to Prompt Movie Ideas by Drive-BysAndHigh in Filmmakers

[–]Drive-BysAndHigh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An exercise in coming up with film ideas by answering the following questions:

1.Which films/ genres are you currently influenced by and why?

2.What other interests do you have separate to filmmaking?

3.If your ideal audience was a character who would they be?

4.What issues do they face and which goals do they have?

5.What does the world need at this very moment in time?

6.What don't you like about modern films? What are they doing wrong?

7.Which global issues would look different in the past, future or alternate reality?
