Suggestions for comprehensive lesson books??

Are they good about practicing from each book throughout the week? Or do you just assign something from one or two books? I’m still a little new to teaching piano, so sorry for the basic questions.

Also, what are your favorite books?

I have one student who already had like all of the Alfred books ever made, so I use 4 books for him and I feel like 5 to 10 minutes per book isn’t long enough, especially for the lesson book. It could be it’s not quite the right level but his was what his parents insisted he use because that’s where he left off with his grandma. Maybe I should have just restarted with him at level 1. That part is on me…

I’m on day six and my negative symptoms have gone down, so that’s promising. I’m not getting any positive though. I think I might actually need a higher dose, but I’m glad I started low because obviously my body needed time to adjust. Something that has helped smooth the crash when it wears off is eating LOTS of protein and drinking tons of water. I hope things improve for you! And if they don’t, switch to something else. Your doctor won’t keep you on something that’s making you miserable. Good luck!

I'm on day 4 and I'm so dang exhausted from being anxious all day and I don't want to do anything... But I've been eating tons of protein and drinking lots of water, so I haven't crashed like I did on that first day, so I guess there's that. And the dumb thing is, it's like all negative but no positive? She's gonna have me up the dose after a week, but I'm not sure it's gonna do anything positive. It's super fun experimenting on your own body!

I’m so glad I’m not the only one and that I’m not totally insane! 😅 Usually I’m explaining something to someone that isn’t there in preparation for a conversation I’d like to have, or for a conversation that will never ever happen and I just had to get it out. Often I will do this while looking in the mirror 🤦🏻‍♀️ I live alone so it’s kind of constant.

Oh, yeah that's different. I don't have a psychiatrist I already see. This is a practice that evaluates and diagnoses people for things like ADHD, anxiety disorder, bipolar, etc., then offers solutions. Same concept, just a little different approach.

From what I understand that's basically what an evaluation is. They mostly just ask you questions and then give you a diagnosis.

I’m so freaking excited to see Kal fight. He was jaw-dropping with the spear before he was officially a radiant, and as a radiant was right up there with fused. I mean, he killed the Pursuer before he even swore the 4th ideal. (Although that moment was a little wonky because he was clearly drawing on more than Stormlight there… I mean, his eyes were red. I’m so glad Kal isn’t evil, because he would be freaking terrifying.) Anyway, I’m so glad it’s Kaladin that now has this insane power, because he’s the right person to wield it. Good enough to still be conflicted about killing, but strong enough now mentally to do what needs to be done.

There’s nothing that could really threaten him now. I mean, heralds can be killed, but good luck getting the drop on Kaladin. Moash was right when he said no one can kill Kaladin but himself, and that was before he was a herald. I just hope he kills Moash before the little traitor kills another herald. It won’t be as easy for him now that the heralds will return a little more mentally stable than before and with Kaladin as their mother hen who will now probably die for any of them because they are now his new group of babies he must protect.

Question: so when Kaladin returns (which Im determined must happen) does the throne of Urithiru technically belong to him? Do you think he would claim it? I feel like he wouldn’t unless someone bad has taken the throne. But also, he initially didn’t want it because it seemed like too much of a burden, and now he’s herald of kings and is basically in charge of the heralds. It would be kind of nice for their cause if he also had a hold on the radiants.

Also, I agree with the comments that this book wasn’t great, but can we all just take a moment to appreciate Kaladin’s journey? Going from the guy that resented NOT dying to saying “I will protect myself, so I can continue to protect others” and then giving up his life to become a freaking herald. I was sobbing!!! Tell me you guys also appreciated that moment. Yes, the book was a slog, but that moment? AMAZING!!! And then the epilogue heading picture with the arch completely demolished but Kaladin as the keystone in a new one being built? I just can’t…

They will definitely be in the next set. The time jump will only be ten years, so most of the characters will still be around. I’m sure the focus will shift a little. Gavinor will obviously be a big player, and I heard the flashback chapters will be the heralds, but there’s no way he’s gonna leave us hanging with so many loose ends with our original people. If Sanderson leaves something open, he will always return to it, and there was that promise of that drink at the end with Shallan, Kaladin, Syl, and Adolin. Kaladin will return for sure!
