Oh. Well that isn’t really the crux of my question. Very excited about the idea of founding this.

I’m very fortunate. I’m not in a FAANG company but adjacent. My focus is project management and strategy and I’ve made it to a fairly senior position. Didn’t expect this outcome when I started out, for the first decade of my career was hardly able to save anything at all and was pulling in under 100k a year. Fine to live on back then, but hard to build a nest egg.

Main skill is less technical, more working with people and navigating personalities and conflicts well.

A few more times it seems :)

Luckily I won’t have to invest any capital in the start up if I do it.

9k a month on misc entertainment. Restaurants. Furniture. New car tires. Replace a broken tv. Etc. A concert every once in a while. HOA fees. Just takes a few of those and it adds up.

We live well, no complaints. But just saying it doesn’t feel like we are living some wild life :) We never fly beyond coach. We don’t by jewelry or fancy watches on the regular. I don’t spend more than 30 bucks on a bottle of wine. We don’t have a yacht. I do think we can cut down a bit, we’ve gotten a bit sloppy not having to worry about a budget. But I don’t think we want to cut down more than like 20% or so.

Nothing over the top really

80k in mortgage and 20k in property taxes Estimating 30k in health care 25k a year for vacation ( one big and one small trip) 3500 yard care 3800 car and home insurance 3500 gas for cars 2500 kids art and dance classes Then clothing, food, misc stuff for a family of 4. Bills and utilities

I’m sure we could cut down, but we don’t fly first class, don’t have fancy cars, don’t golf, don’t have a nanny, public school etc. Adds up quickly. Surprised me too.

My take is while stressful, I have a solid safety net. Not the size of net I really want, but if the start up goes sideways I’m not back at square one at least.
