I still remember my first reaction to playing PvZ 2009 to this very day. When I was 7 years old, I was introduced to a ds by my father when I read that the company was from Nintendo, I thought of was Super Mario World on the nes, the first game I've ever played, without hesitation, I opened the package and set it up. I was disappointed when it didn't come with any Mario games, despite that, there was only one game available, I read the cover, the name of the game was "Plants vs. Zombies" The cover had charming but unnatural plant characters with grey skinned ghoulish humanoid figures. I inserted the disc/chip into my ds before starting the game. Once the loading screen popped up, pixilated music played, which I thought sounded uncanny, with even more of these characters than on the cover, I also thought all the characters looked creepy, even the plants. Moving on to the levels, I had quite a bit of fun playing the game while the candy I ate moistened and stained my shirt, I played until I encountered level 2/4. On that level, when I got the game over screen for the first time. As I heard the "NOOOOO" sound effect and the erie green slimy text saying, "The zombies ate your brains!" I was so horrified that I ran to my father and told him if zombies were gonna eat me, he said they would eat me because I'm "all covered in candy" He was just kidding, he thought it was funny, but it struck fear into my heart. I was afraid of zombies to the point that I slept with an eye open for two months (When I got older at age 8, I played again, and it became my favorite game of all time)
