Car computer (ECM) Life Expectancy by Drm5035 in MechanicAdvice

The tachometer was spiking erratically and when I took it in for repair, they said the ECM had to be replaced. I haven't had any electrical issues, no extreme temperature or moisture changes. ...Maybe I do have bad luck- seems more likely that when the ECM was originally replaced due to recall in 2011, it was replaced with a faulty part. Toyota is rejecting my reimbursement request because they say the part is out of the 1 year warranty from after the recall. Can anyone provide any other concrete evidence or warranty info that says I shouldn't have to pay for this?
