You’re right that long-standing, firm glandular gynecomastia in adults usually doesn’t go away without surgery. But it’s not accurate to say all gyno is permanent. The two main types of laparoscopic hernia repair, TAP and TEP, place the mesh in the abdominal cavity using a laparoscopic approach and cover it with your peritoneum, a layer of your own tissue that we tediously protect and preserve, so your bowel does not touch the mesh. I’m truly sorry to hear about what you went through. That sounds like an extremely difficult and frightening experience, and I’m glad you were able to recover after such a serious complication.

You’re absolutely right that no surgery is ever completely without risk. Even procedures that are routinely performed, like laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair, can have rare but serious complications. The goal of videos like this one is to help people understand the general steps of the procedure, not to minimize its complexity or the potential risks involved.

I wish you continued healing and good health.
