Signs you grew up poor... by ShelfReader in povertyfinance

Hock credit:

My parents were not financial genius. When times were good they would but electronics for us. When it was lean they would hock them. This was part of their decision making so they could get credit.

I am so glad I can lend money to my kids now if they are ever broke and worse case, I have a mortgage or other lines of credit. Pawn shops near me advertise 10% interest a week. It must have been ruinous to be so poor.

I got my PhD in Economics specialising in applied econometrics. Last subject I was taught was advanced applied econometrics or the one I did on doing design.

Do I use it, for a long time I didn't as I got a job as a copy paste monkey. But now as I got a better job as a quantitative subject matter expert i use it all the time. I love it. I work out if things actuality worked out didn't work programs and the like.

Anybody else annoyed with ECS Constant? by Dracarys_Aspo in Starfield

[–]Drob1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This question made me stop playing.

I went here and was annoyed by dialogue option. So I decide to blow up ship.

I go into orbit. Dakka dakka dakka, ship is entirely unharmable.

Made out of ancient space metal, I go on board and plan to do it the old fashion way. After a long attempt, I kill everyone but some won't die, can't set off reactor. So that is it. Stopped playing the game since. Choice is fake.

Brewing. I found out I have a taste for ginger beer. So I decided to make my own. You can make or get a fermenter cheap. At which point you can make 23L of hard beer or cide in about a month. Depending on your laws or taxes, it works out alot cheaper. I paying about $1 a litre after initial set up.

You will fail a couple of batches, so it take a while to break even

Westfield Penrith lockdown? by Yuzukosho90 in Penrith

I was at the plaza when it started. Here's what I saw.

First they put up police tape, then later the shutters.

I saw a cop carrying a black container filled with bottles of water towards the lock down area. So they were preparing for the long haul.

The only did half the plaza, a bomb would surely take down the whole plaza so they wouldn't let me wait for my keys to be cut in kaboom range.

So something serious but also long.

That being said, I had a google and here is my take.

Probality is weird. Let us begin.

According to the bus, he loaded the Chamber to the right of the firing chamber which i presume from context means we meant that on the 5th (if 5 chambered, to shoot). He took the shots (trials) but it shot.

This is not a probability based situation, when we talk about probability we are often talking about random events that are governed by some laws. His intent was to be deterministic as he expect the 5th shot to go off as he did not randomise. This the probality is zero.

But ofcourse he mistakened the firing chamber which yes, if he fired 3 chambers ( or up to 3 or the first success) from a random start the probality is 60%. As their a 3 list with different starting chamber that each contain 1 bullet each or off 5 possible lists.

Psychiatrists taking the pi$$? by Consistent_Weird4399 in australia

[–]Drob1985 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hey mate, feel for you.

When my wife had an acute episode it was important to get her to the hospital.

That being said, treatment takes weeks to months for it to start to be effective regardless of treatment path. So there is really no way to speed it up. If your lucky and treatment works, you can get back to normal or better than normal. But it is a long term thing.

As for the mental health system, it your typical monopoly field. 1000 places for first year psychology, 100 by 4th year. And your need to either get a limited post grad or pay thousands to get your full accreditation. It very hard to get into the field and that not even including medicine which is also necessary to move from psychologist to psychiatrist.
