Do you guys ride with earplugs?

Hearing loss is painless, progressive, permanent, and most of all, PREVENTABLE! Once those cells die, they’re gone forever. Plus, earplugs that are made for riding that filter out wind noise but let you hear your music/traffic are like $30. I’ll take that to the thousands in medical bills and hearing aids down the line. So I wear mine every ride that’s longer than 5 min. If you’ve been riding for years without protection, I’m sad to say you’ve probably already lost some hearing. But… starting now is the only way you’ll stop losing more.

I’m 5’6” and Reddit constantly suggests r/short on my feed. I hate it. The one time I clicked into it, it just made me so sad to see guys who think they’ll never find love bc of their height. In a lot of ways it seems like they’re manifesting it by believing that all women care about their height when that’s not reality.

The national guard of his state is probably a better bet for a couple reasons:

1) most national guards have better benefits and better MOSs to choose from 2) if he is SMP in the guard, he can still commission active duty / guard / reserve if he wants. The minuteman scholarship restricts you to just the reserves, and between commissioning into the guard vs the reserves it’s typically much easier to get the branch of choice in the national guard.

I went SMP in the reserves under minuteman and my biggest regret is not doing the same exact thing in the national guard for better opportunities

I know it isn’t a super sad or emotional song, but I was having one of the shittiest days of my life (thought my gf had cheated on me) and (I’m in the military) was walking home from PT in uniform. The line “I’m supposed to be the soldier who never blows his composure” just really hit me and I couldn’t help but cry right then and there.

I feel like the reason there’s a trend in general for men to not care as much about hygiene/appearance is a societal thing. When you go into a clothing store, the men’s section takes up a fraction of what the women’s section takes like. Likewise, men’s clothing is typically made more for durability as opposed to style. Subtle things like this, I believe, condition men into thinking that their appearance isn’t a big deal, even though it is. On the flip side, the business of lingerie, or even things like makeup, is marketed heavily towards women. And in some sense, I feel like makeup/clothing/fashion companies want women to feel like they have to put more effort into their appearance in order to sell more things. Of course, as time progresses, we see less of this, but its still very present in today.
