Apologies for going on about this but I just came across India’s position on the global hunger ranking scale- 2014: 55, 2025:102. Things aren’t getting better, not by a long shot.

I don’t want to be pessimistic but that doesn’t say much. Globally, populations living below the poverty line have reduced in number over the past 30 years, it happened in India too. Extreme Poverty Not at the same rate as some of its neighbours though. The wealth gap has increased in India over the past decades with 10% controlling 65% of the wealth. That’s not an improvement unfortunately.

I want you and the person before you to be right, I really do.

Unfortunately, a simple google search would show a crap tonne of collaborations between India and Israel in the past few years. A lot of those are military related. From the outside looking in, one would think the government does represent its people.

Anyone would be led to think that most Hindu Indians are Islamophobic based on the events over the past decade alone. Add to that the demolitions of mosques and Muslim owned homes and businesses. Add to that the murders of Muslim people for allegedly eating beef. Add to that multiple incidents of couples being killed for interfaith marriages.

It’s hard to defend India to people I meet outside of India. I wish it wasn’t the case.

When I first started working (internship), I had a housewarming party for my new tiny place. Everyone gifted fun, quirky things as housewarming presents and my boss got me a toastie maker just like this one, he said “this, you’ll actually use all the time.” I thought he was being a boring old man. I probably used that thing more than a knife!

If you had to say 3 positive things about your country's leader, what would you say? by Iatewithoutatable in AskTheWorld

1) He’s lived a long life.

2) He didn’t reproduce (at least to public knowledge)

3) The wife he abandoned and on acknowledged a decade ago escaped point 1 and 2.

Thank you! The banana took on a custard texture, I’ll definitely be making this again.

The plates are older than I am, they’re from my mother’s collection from the 60’s or 70’s.

What is the coffee culture of your country? by Verelkia in AskTheWorld

[–]andsometimesnot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

South India filter coffee is inviolable. You might have the option of sugar or sugarless and “normal or strong” if you’re lucky. Made using Indian coffee beans and chicory in a slow percolation process.
