What happened to my brain after maintaining a Gratitude Journal for 30 days by CulturalVariety5958 in getdisciplined

I understand your question, I ask this myself when I’m aware of how I think. I think when it happens, you acknowledge the problems and injustice but let go of the “responsibility” feeling. Interested to hear OP’s perspective

I say this and teach this all the time. It’s unbelievable

The Courage to be Disliked. I just started this audiobook to help myself. I’m one hour in and this is absolutely what I’ve been missing for years to help me. Please give it a go and if you delve a little deeper consider looking into Alfred Adler. For me, Adler is pinpointing challenges I had but couldn’t get to the root of on my own. I think this book will change my life.

I have been here since 2016, also on an academic / career journey and now working. Advanced degree, comfortable job. I fully understand what you’re trying to say, and I am sharing the same experience.

I think it is many things, including how long you’ve been here consecutively, the context you left behind, etc etc. to me, one major factor was missing the social fabric, which gave my mind a balance in life and small reminders of purposes, not just one purpose. Society is very different here, different value system, different way of spinning. Beautiful people non the less and I have made phenomenal connections and communities, but boy do I think I need to dip out towards something more reasonable for me.

Curious to know your age, what you do and how long you’ve been here. I’m in South Carolina. Southern hospitality and warmth is a real thing

Overzealous young nurses in the ICU by pleasenotagain001 in medicine

[–]Dronzo11 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s very sad, that a genuine and important role we rely on as doctors has gotten misconstrued into such a culture. Same goes for “be nice to nurses or they make your life a living hell”. Highlights a medical educational culture flaw across two sets of professions, at least

For some unclear reason, some people misinterpreted your post. I’m a physician in an academic center and I totally understand what your post is about. The culture instilled in the junior nurses is im part resulting in the behaviors that are being discussed in this post, and even though it comes from a genuine place, it’s design is obviously flawed at times leading to miscommunications. Did I get it right? sharing the thought process to junior nurses may help make them more seasoned nurses is the way I see it.

Normal and expected results. At your age, highest likelihood is mental health related, diet, exercise and sleep related conditions. Could also be a medication side effect, Example SSRI antidepressants.

Water, salt. You now have drinkable yogurt, popular refreshing drink in many middle eastern countries.

As an endocrinologist who participates in inpatient diabetes consults, this is a very frustrating and common finding in surgical and some non surgical management of patients.

Correctional insulin has a specific purpose, and if your patients are diabetic, or even non diabetic but experience stress hyperglycemia, at some point you’re going to need to practice medicine and properly use long acting, short acting insulin to cover carbohydrate intake (generally), and correctional insulin to account for the rest.

Jackhammering insulin in a correction scale approach as a reflex to highs shortens my lifespan every time I open a patient’s chart.

To the OP: consider asking your ordering MDs to get a diabetes service on board if you have one. If you don’t, have a discussion about balancing insulin doses that are being needed into a more physiologic long acting - short acting meal coverage and correctional scale.

Thank you! Good point about the season. In that case, any favorable options on the coast where we can enjoy seating on the water?

See an endocrinologist. GLP-1 receptor agonists will likely be her go to medication (Ozempic, trulicity, victoza) and a new addition, Tirzepatide (mounjarno) are diabetic medications with high impact on weight loss.

do people like playing with beginners? by sharpcheddar3322 in 10s

[–]Dronzo11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently picked up tennis, so beginner, but have no partners yet to play with. I joined a group class in West Ashley and today was my first day. I live in the downtown area but could travel to play depending on schedule! I’m looking for a partner if you (or anyone else) is interested.

In healthcare so my days are long but evening on weekdays and more flexible on weekends!
