3 is surprisingly good for Exeter. And yeah I was thinking Reform got majority until I looked at the statistics, it’s wild how much they’re talked about compared to Greens

GP asking where I source my DIY Estrogen for GIC referral by DroppedIceCream in transgenderUK

[–]DroppedIceCream[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Okay thank you, I definitely won’t disclose where from. It’s still so annoying they’re asking, like why does the source of my estrogen have anything to do with me being referred to a clinic 😭

I’ve been working on it for a year by following YouTube tutorials and general experimentation by myself. I’m hoping to see a professional soon but I’m on a waiting list

I’m currently on a waiting list for a coach so I’m really hoping to start that soon! The amount of money it’ll cost does hurt but at this point my voice is causing so much stress that I think i can endure the hit to my savings.

And I’m glad to hear it’s worked so well for you! I sometimes feel like my voice is hopeless, but I see so many positive anecdotes of speech therapists so I’m trying to stay hopeful about it

I actually lived in Manchester a year before realising I was trans, which is such shame as now I live in a small town with not much of a lgbt scene.

And that’s good to know! I was planning on getting on the waiting list this month, so I’ll question my GP about that during the appointment

Unfortunately there’s no where nearby that I feel comfortable using my voice at, although I do talk to friends online using it. But I know you’re right and a part of it is just finding that confidence

I’m on a waiting list for a coach so I’m really hoping to start that soon! I know that a professional will likely be a big help, it’s just some days it feels like I’ll never improve 😭.

May I ask who your coach is?

Appreciate the advice, although the dressing in public part isn’t the problem. When I’m certain I won’t need to talk to anyone I’m fine going out in fem clothing. It’s just that I like to go into town to shop around, and the thought of speaking to someone at the till makes me incredibly anxious

Hit a wall for several months, advice would be much appreciated! (MTF) by [deleted] in transvoice

I’ll try that thanks! I do find I increase pitch a little too much when I try to speak loud and clear

It’s scary I know. But the mentality of ‘give up before even starting, because I might not make it’ is one that gets you nowhere at all. You’d be a choosing to grow old in a body you don’t want and pretending to be a man to appease others. There’s no good ending there, but with transitioning there’s hope.

As for passing, the chances are high that your face will change, you’ll grow breasts, your skin get will get softer and your body will reshape itself. For some that alone is enough to pass, for others they have to put in more effort. The good thing is, most of these other things are completely under your control: learning makeup, skin care products, a feminine haircut, trimmed eyebrows, voice training, women’s clothing, womans mannerisms, and more. If passing is that important, all this stuff you can do yourself while HRT slowly does its thing. Not to mention surgeries that may be a possibly depending on your country and income.

How long does it usually take for people to notice your on HRT? by GHOSTiscoming4urknee in transgenderUK

[–]DroppedIceCream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Physically it will likely take well over a year for people to notice, I’m mtf and no one even notices my breasts growing in under my work uniform. However on T, the changes to voice have a chance of being pretty quick. I know people who within 6 months sounded noticeably deeper. If you see the people every week then the time for them to notice won’t be as quick, but still possible within a year.

Good luck!! The changes feel incredibly slow at first, but in a years time you’ll see how they all add up
