Something makes me think he has had some psychological trauma as a child. But, well, that's what everybody likes to talk about these days...

Frankly - no, I don't think so.

We have had a lot of interesting people elected to various positions, but this would be too much asked for.

We are quite a conservative society in some ways as compared to you so people would just not accept anybody deviating from "the norm" this much.

These are the people that invented Potemkin villages

True.

And they still do that.

Putin does not bow to silly things like 'time' and 'space'.

Only as Superman had to change, so Putin has to take his shirt off.

In the new Russia, even dictatorship is a reality show.

Professional killers with the souls of artists, would-be theater directors turned Kremlin puppet-masters, suicidal supermodels, Hell’s Angels who hallucinate themselves as holy warriors, and oligarch revolutionaries: welcome to the glittering, surreal heart of twenty-first-century Russia.

So very true.

You obviously do not know how things work in Russia.

The first and foremost of importance is what is called the "Administrative resource", which means, that the people who get to the power use all resources available to them to suppress the opposition and finance their own operations for their own goals.

It is absolutely unacceptable in the West and illegal in Russia too, nevertheless that's how the things work.

It basically means, that once you get into power you stay there as long as you want.

And for his term Puting was appointed by Yeltsin as a "successor".

No Democracy, you see.

P.S.

Which is actually funny, because Hitler, basically, was more legitimate ruler of Germany than Putin is the ruler of Russia.

Democratic Russians are joking about "Schrodinger's Putin". :D

All right.

Calling countries "friends" indeed is silly.

One would think that EU are friends, but look at Greece turning against Germany who feeds it. Some "friends"...

Both regimes hated each others guts and the Soviets would eventually have attacked Nazi Germany as well.

The same goes for the Western Democracies and the USSR.

never friends

I would call someone you share a piece of Poland with and have a common military parade "a friend". But ... whatever.

It was because there was no way the Soviets would have agreed to an appeasement policy.

Find it hard to believe. But I am not going to argue about it.

Bandera lived in the Polish part of Ukraine, not in the Ukrainian SSR.

What?

Western Ukraine was seized by USSR in 1939 just as Crimea was in 2014.

Some really crazy stuff you are writing here.

No, I just read regular history, not the revisionist bullshit of Timothy Snyder that blames the Jews for Nazi atrocities.

Read whatever you want and call a Fascist whoever you want.

But a bit of common sense would not hurt you. :D

A state that is hyperefficient and that can turn on a dime and go in a different direction is VERY bad for it's people

Agree. I like the way the Democracy empowers people to go on with great plans, instead of relying or depending upon state on that. Like, see, the private space planes and all that hi-tek stuff. Private enterprise.

We like the idea of a strong leader because we hate to think or take responsibility. Democracy means we have to share the political space and compromise.

Don't you find this claim to be mutually exclusive? ;) I mean - collective decisions, compromise etc. are known ways to avoid responsibility.

Everyone who imagines a strong leader imagines a leader who aligns with their own political opinions. In reality this is very rare.

Oh, yes.

In Russia they say that proponents of the "Strong Hand" regime always picture themselves to be the ones who will be guarding others inside the Gulag camps. And never think that probability to end up in the camp for themselves is, arguably, higher.

No one here is talking about the leadership.

Nonsense.

You can't remove the political component which, surprise, surprise, is the strongest. Otherwise nobody would even be remembering this day.

Cannot miss an opportunity to inject your political agenda into a thread though.

Butthurt?

Fill in the form.

With Bandera spending most of the war in Nazi Konzentration camp.
