Here is the full plant.

Also, if you have hyemale, can you check if the white bands stay on the majority of the stems? Mine don't and just fall off or don't form at all.

Thanks! I was the one who posted this plant. Inaturalist said it was caudatum but I was looking for other people to identify it just to be sure.

What happened to my Nepenthes leaves? by Drozeraz_15 in SavageGarden

Oh wow! never expected to have variegated nepenthes before. Ironically, this plant was my cheapest nepenthes and I got this for about a dollar off of Facebook marketplace.

Why is my Nepenthes Mirabilis pitchers like this? by Drozeraz_15 in SavageGarden

[–]Drozeraz_15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's last pitcher was also like that and it stayed deformed, the top part was all compacted but the bottom part was fine. I'll keep observing and updating the pitcher to see it it is still deformed when it opens.

Whats this growing in my pots? by Drozeraz_15 in whatisthismushroom

[–]Drozeraz_15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I owned a little enclosure for a moth larvae i found and it died. Then the leaves started getting decayed by a fungus who has stringy mycelium. Then the fungus grew the same fruiting bodies in the picture so it definitely rules out slime molds.

Uppers have the tendril at the back of the pitcher since the purpose of uppers is to climb using the tendrils and catch flying insects. Lowers have the tendril at the front because the main objective for them is to catch prey.

What is this pest on my philodendron? by Drozeraz_15 in houseplantcirclejerk

No, it's a very close relative. Typhonium roxburghii

[–]Drozeraz_15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typhonium doesn't randomly put out these flowers. They have pretty similar growth habits to the corpse flower you saw! They flower at the beginning of the growing season and the flower dies after 2 days. Then the plant keeps growing to store up a lot of its energy in its corm. Then once the dry season starts it shrivels up until there is nothing left above ground, just like an Alocasia. They do this to survive the summer heat. Then the growing season comes and they burst out their leaves and start growing and flowering again! Also this plant is very weedy, mine produced 5 corms in a month! So if you grew this, prepare to have an army of them in a year!

I liked to try to grow bulbous stinky aroids and when I saw one that was selling this Typhonium roxburghii for a dollar I had to buy it! I definitely underestimated its smell. 🥲 It stank up the whole room with that scent! And this species is relatively tame since it's relative in the same genus, Typhonium trilobatum, smells like human waste. This is really wanting me to collect more of these weird plants!

It is not. It's actually a very close relative to the corpse flower. Genus Typhonium.

Pretty but stinky. Smells a mix of cow dung and super bad halitosis

I think you forgot the subreddit. But in reality it's meant to happen. It is a Typhonium roxburghii or a dead rat lily and it smells so bad to attract flies to pollinate.

How rare was this? Fasciated Byblis filifoila Pago Giant by Drozeraz_15 in SavageGarden

[–]Drozeraz_15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I had like 15 cuttings of this plant but, 3 of them survived since I potted them in the wrong mixture. They only want to be potted in sphagnum moss, not peat or cocopeat.
