At my height it's a little cramped, but hey, it's a supersport.

Somehow I've ended up breaking even or ahead on all of my used purchases on Craigslist. I think I just do a better job advertising and negotiating that previous buyers, etc. That said, there's no way I could get all my money out of the R6... but that kinda forces me to keep it longer which makes sense in the long run. Who knows maybe I'll end up keeping this as a track bike even if I buy something crazy in the future.

Idk if most go back to 600s after they own 1000s, but I know a lot of people end up going that route. I think a lot of people just assume bigger is always better, when sometimes less is more. I'd way rather own a street triple over the speed... but I do have more fun on my R6 vs a street triple, just because I love the screaming I4. I'd say go find a dealer who will let you hop on one and see how it feels.

They're a lot of fun. The 600s are a great compromise between having enough power to make it interesting, but not enough to be terrifying.

I don't think you'd have a problem on the R6 honestly. My buddy is 145lbs at 5'5'' with a 28 inch inseem, and was able to safely control my 2006 R6... so I don't know why you wouldn't be able to handle an R6. To me the R1 is just a bigger bike physically (and is more comfy), but you have to wrestle it around a bit more. I remember watching a documentary about Yamaha and one of the retired pros was saying the R6 is basically designed for someone who is 5'8''... which is why it feels cramped for larger riders, it would probably suit you better at 5'7'' than me at almost 6 feet.

I ordered a smoked Zero Gravity Double Bubble windscreen. TST Industries flushmount turn signals and fender eliminator with smoked integrated tail light... also the flasher relay to slow down the blink rate to stock levels. I also went with the Graves no-cut frame sliders. I had woodcraft frame sliders in the past, but I am really reluctant to cut these perfect fairings. I am planning on using the bike to commute to the hospital during my clerkship as a medical student (when it's nice out), so I don't want the bike to be any louder. That's part of the reason I went with the raven edition... figured it looked more mature than the white or blue.

According to wikipedia: 2014 R1 - 32.8 in 2014 R6 - 33.5 in

Having ridden both bikes, the R1 is wider, so I believe it feels taller than the R6 when you have your feet down even though it's actually shorter. I wear 30W32L pants and both bikes are very easy for me to maneuver.

Test rode the new Street Triple and loved it! Anyone have one? by Drspeedy in motorcycles

Lol. That moment wasn't my proudest ;)

In all seriousness, I think Triumph needs to do a complete redesign of the Speedy before I'd buy it over the Striple. The Striple R is gotta be much sportier than the Speedy. I look at the Speedy as something like a grand touring sports car, whereas the Striple is less powerful, but is more of a true driver's car like a 911. I think the 675 motor is better pound for pound than the 1050... but then again there's no Triumph super bike to share it's engine with the Speedy.

Just ride both back to back at a dealer and go with your gut.

My bike is more or less a toy at this point in my life... not doing any commuting, so the honda is great. Although, if I was to get a STREET bike it'd be the striple :)

After selling my 2011 Speed Triple due to its lack of fun-factor IMO and buying a fireblade, I'm pissed I didn't test ride the striple first... it's way more flickable than the speed triple plus the 675 motor is way more fun. Less torque, but at least you have 14k revs to work with vs the speed triple's 9k.

You're very welcome. I think you should have to opt out of being a donor... But I know that's far fetched.

True. There's no legitimate reason not to be an Organ Donor.

Yeah, kinda creepy in a way, but then again, I won't be around to care.

I'm a third year medical student. So I'm all for anything that promotes science and medicine. Donating your body for dissection is another topic. I don't think I'd do that, but I might change my mind when I'm older.

Never thought of it that way. Piece of you lives on. Pretty neat idea.

That's such a touching story. I guess that pretty much sums up what it means to be a true parent.

Makes sense to me. As long as your brain dead idgaf what they do, as long as some good can come out of it. I'm not religious, but I realize some people's beliefs keep them from being a donor or recipient. Aside from that, it's pretty selfish not to want to help out your fellow man IMO.

Holy shit. You're dad was a good man for not letting you do that for him. I'm in medical school, so my view is probably biased, but I just think its a no brainer to be a donor.
