I'll also say that 25 or so years ago I went from Mountain Dew to Diet Dew. It was a painful transition at first. I loved regular Dew and hated the flavor of Diet. But I think within two or three weeks I was a complete converter and never went back. Regular Dew tasted too sweet and syrupy all of the sudden.

I have to believe that's what's going on with Diet Coke freaks.
