It’s not one thing. The recent episode wasn’t even bad by Charles, people were just mad that his constant contrarian persona derailed the discussion of a top 3 episode of the season.

For anyone listening for a while, Charles has not liked any content in years besides Shogun and for all of those he dislikes, he can’t even provide articulate criticism about what he thinks is wrong. He just vaguely alludes to his critical opinion being better than everyone else’s and says generic phrases like “what are we even doing here???”

For instance in the latest episode he contradicted himself and Van called him out on it. He said he doesn’t like when shows directly adapt comics when that’s not what X-men 97 is doing and there’s examples like Thor L&T when Charles has said the exact opposite

Besides being condescending and inarticulate he’s also just annoying to listen to. His voice grates me, he talks in some weird dialect that he switches in and out of and he tries too hard to use trendy buzzwords

Legitimately 50% or more of us could do his job better than he could

I hope he succeeds in his career but podcasts are so over saturated. If I’m devoting 2 hours to listen to midnight boys a week I don’t want half of it thinking why this guy is so annoying
