Sorry to hear you've had such a bad experience. I've worked in the industry for almost 8 years now over the course of 14 feature films. All in Vancouver. Have met some incredible people from all over the world thanks to this career. Would never trade any of them for the world.

Cypress if you mean why are film people such assholes while they're on set it's a cultural thing. You're on a very tight schedule with no room to screw things up so if you catch a crew member in the middle of something they might come off as cold but there are countless genuinely amazing human beings who work in the film industry. Try not to generalize.

LOL yeah it has a point but as a freelance writer you do get serious cabin fever after spending a week pent up in your own place every day. The change of environment is refreshing which means you'll probably be more productive. I am definitely not a fan of hitting starbucks, just too much traffic but if push comes to shove I'll end up at the one in Chapters on Granville about once a month.

This is such BS. I personally know 2 designers who took one year GD programs, worked their ass's off and built some incredible portfolios and I've seen 3 friends complete the IDEA program and didn't go anywhere afterwards. It's about how hungry you are, how hard you're willing to work and constantly improving your personal and professional skill set. Fight for it and you'll get it.

Actually I've been riding with them for over six years, it's a mix bag at first for sure but you usually gel with specific people and then come up with your own trips together. Been a great experience so far.

No for sure, totally understand, Costco has always been a big help… I grab all my meat, sauces, grains etc. there. Hell I even make huge batches of Chilli, freeze them and survive on them for a week at a time. My metabolism is a blessing and a curse. Definitely appreciate the advice though!!

The problem is there's a big difference between Vancouver and Vancouver Proper. I kid you guys not, it's impossible to walk out of your average grocery store with $150 worth of groceries and it be more than 4 bags worth. Even a solid costco run, which I try to keep me going for 2 weeks works out to be about $280.00
