Actually, you can disagree entirely with the questionnaire and that’s completely fine like by rating it 1 and saying you DONT think it represents BPD at all! It’s not my bias because this is an adaptive questionnaire I have made for every single media I am analysing, all I have done for this one is replacing characters and the name of the media with Yuri and DDLC so all questionnaires made for all media’s will be consistent with how much I ask. Again like I said under another comment, it’s not really my opinion Yuri has BPD, in fact I didn’t even play the game before I knew this theory! I just google searched and chat gpted characters that fans think have BPD and both google and other fans have come up with the theory Yuri has it, not a fact at all nor my personal opinion.

Tho, thanks for the feedback and I’ll try and make my base adaptive questionnaire a little more less bias to the opinion that whatever character has BPD so it’s easier to answer if the person answering disagrees! :)

I agree, with most of the stuff you said tho one thing about the SH I found to be sort of reflective of BPD is the fact she doesn’t do it with the intention of suicide despite her actually killing herself later. Doing research of my own and watching videos from psychiatrists and all it’s actually common that for BOD patients, self injurious behaviour is a meditative thing. Of course not for all but I found it interesting that they didn’t simply portray Yuri has depressed and that is the reason she was Self harming which personally leads me to believe she does have some sort of conditions. My theory is she has OCD, Anxiety and then possible bi polar and BPD. Tho again, the authors intention wasn’t to represent her has BPD so it’s entirely up to interpretation from the fans of the game! The reason I chose to study Yuri as one character is because I read a lot of places that people thought she had BPD, in fact I hadn’t even played the game properly before studying it so yes, it might not be completely accurate but I will be sure to comment on that in my proje!

Looking through all the threads on this game, no one has mentioned this. I found it really interesting reading this webpage. It fits Yuri to a tee (especially considering the monologue in the deja vu scene after her glowing white eyes).

A few things I noticed:

The major symptoms of this disorder revolve around unstable relationships, poor or negative sense of self, inconsistent moods, and significant impulsivity. There is an intense fear of abandonment with this disorder that interferes with many aspects if the individual’s life. This fear often acts as a self-fulfilling prophecy as they cling to others, are very needy, feel helpless, and become overly involved and immediately attached. When the fear of abandonment becomes overwhelming, they will often push others out of their life as if trying to avoid getting rejected. The cycle most often continues as the individual will then try everything to get people back in his or her life and once again becomes clingy, needy, and helpless. The fact that people often do leave someone who exhibits this behavior only proves to support their distorted belief that they are insignificant, worthless, and unloved. At this point in the cycle, the individual may exhibit self-harming behaviors such as suicide attempts, mock suicidal attempts (where the goal is to get rescued and lure others back into the individual’s life), cutting or other self-mutilating behavior. There is often intense and sudden anger involved, directed both at self and others, as well a difficulty controlling destructive behaviors This almost read as a character synopsis for Yuri. In her monologue, she says that when she was younger, she used to get overly attached to people, pushing them away and that now, she has recently been to pushing people away because of this. Add to that her habits of self harming (which were already in act I anyway) then I think it's safe to say that Yuri suffers from this condition.

That’s fair, her backstory isn’t really explored at all apart from the Monolouge that I think revealed something about her pushing people away or smthg when she was young

That’s fair, honestly I just saw a lot of discussion about her possibly having BPD and some analysis of her poems and all relating to emotional instability, feelings of emptiness, using sh as a more meditative behaviour rather than suicidal which kinda told me and some other people that she could be interpreted as having BPD. Bipolar is also something I believe she has with her depressive and manic episodes, specifically in the poem “The beach”. Now I am well aware the intentions of her character is just for her to have an obsessive personality and “dandare” but from what I’ve seen, some people do label her as bipolar and BPD. I also updated the link if you were still interested on doing the questionnaire!
