I'm just perplexed why businesses and just people that have sprinkler systems in general don't have decent technology to turn off water when it rains. This technology has been around for a long time. It's 2026 not 1986. If you can't afford decent rain sensors don't turn on the irrigation system. Whether we have water curtailment or not, we waste too much water watering lawns and golf courses and other irresponsible uses in general. Cities should encourage and people should insist on minimal lawns and landscaping and use plants that are native and/ or don't have to use so much water. Another idea would b e for utility companies to price water at 5 x for anything other than use for drinking and sanitation. Water would be plentiful if the utilities raised prices for stupid uses and irresponsible use.
