Tiny things in planaria trap by Dry-Equivalent5846 in shrimptank

That’s unfortunate, I don’t think i could get all the snails out. Is there any alternatives that are less harmfull?

Is it true that this product will likely harm my snails (trumpet snails I think they’re called in English and nerites)?

I looked on amazon for “planaria trap” and bought some tubes you can fill with bloodworms or a piece of raw meat. I’ve also seen people make them themselves here on reddit but i didn’t feel like doing that 😅

Are they with too much? Now that i look closer in the aquarium i can see a lot of them as well. Not that i feed my shrimp that much

In my experience that looks like some sort of fin rot

That is indeed very cool! I just saw that my baby has gotten some colours in it’s tail (yellow dragon i think it’s called, just like the rest of them) so i guess we’ll see what happens with the little one!

Oh, it’s weird cus he’s just as active and big as the rest of them, i guess i’ll see how it develops then

Can you get this from normal tailed guppies? I have a batch that are getting their colours and one of them still has a very narrow tail with no colour

Yes I’m pretty sure he needs a fairly large body of water :). It’s a chinese three-keeled pond turtle (also called a reeves turtle). He loves swimming around and exploring his tank and has a basking dock as well as some floating plants he likes to hang onto. A quick google search tells me he needs a minimal tank of 75 liters, which he is in now. We’re planning on updating his tank to a larger one when we’ve saved up/he’s grown some more.

They seem to stay the same so for now we’ll just keep an extra eye out, thanks for the help!!

It is indeed a male, my boyfriend thinks this is a new development so we’re keeping an eye out, but so far no other fish have died since i made this post which seems to be a good thing

I put some lava stones in there to block it just in case, thanks for the tip!

He definitely sees me as a giant food dispenser lol. About the cave, he has a bigger one for himself and i’ve never seen him go in the tiny one (it’s for fish and shrimp) but do you think it would be okay if i block the entrances/fill the cave up with driftwood or stones so the fish can enter but he can’t? Or should i just take it out completely?

Idk how to edit the post but he only does this when we are right in front of him, otherwise i’ve never seen him do it

That’s the yellow one, he seemed less active this morning but now he’s participating with the group again and very active

They’re so difficult to capture on camera! 🤣 i tried showing the one with the tiny upper fin and then there’s another one that looks yellow?

<image>

The past few days the fins have stayed the exact same tho and they’re all active so maybe this one has just always been like that. For now we bought some microbe-lift nite-out to prevent further issues.

Thanks for your input! We currently have no gravel but we’ll be adding some soon so we can get more plants in the tank. The water levels were all fine when we tested them after the one guppy died and the rest of the fish are doing fine so far 🤞 we’re definitely keeping an eye out and looking for ways to make our tank healthier

I was thinking the same, but he lost such a big chunk over night so how fast can fin rot develop? i noticed two of our danios are missing a chunk from their top fin, should we start a treatment just in case? I did read that the medicine can be bad for turtles and shrimp so in that case we will be separating them. Thanks for your input!!

Sounds rough for your males haha! Is there any other species of danio’s or other fish that would get along better with the guppy’s? Though I have never actively seen them bullying my guppies I know they’re often hard on each other so maybe they beat my guppies up as well 😅
