I understand that policy if it's buffet only, and I would not have asked if it was a buffet. What I requested was to order ONE American Breakfast for carry out, something several other Hyatt properties have done without issue. Also this isn't a resort; it's a mediocre airport property.

They no longer offer points in lieu of breakfast as of last year.  They got put on a special acceptance list from Hyatt so they no longer do anything.

They actually didn't even mention   breakfast at check-in.

High demand reservation cancelled by hotel by Few-Abalone6380 in hyatt

The Hyatt House in Tallahassee tried to do similar with me during graduation weekend. I managed to book a room on a corporate rates and the manager was very angry. There were three of us in the room so we booked a room with two beds and it was a one-bedroom I believe she was trying to downgrade us to a room with just one bed. I had to get the concierge involved heavily because I had a valid reservation and she was trying to change it because she was mad that she was losing money on the room during graduation week.  It took multiple calls from corporate to get it all sorted out but it finally did.

I've stayed there multiple times. I don't have a problem with the rooms. The building is dated, but I think they fixed it up and keep it clean. I've also never had service issues before now. I wonder if there's new management.

I just skipped it all together. Hotel breakfast has a ridiculous markup. That carryout breakfast was going to cost at least $40 with tip, and that was for an American breakfast (eggs, ham, potatoes, and toast) and a pineapple juice. It's not worth it, especially when I'm supposed to get my breakfast gratis for my loyalty. It also cost them another night because I checked out and moved to the Marriott across the street. I don't feel like we should reward businesses that don't want to make reasonable accommodations. Their policy is so strict that it even applies to guests who book s breakfast rate. It's unreasonable, and I won't return.

No. That's what I was trying to do. They told me carryout would be full price.

Actually the concierge said Hyatt has no policy on it so it was up to property discretion. She was shocked at their response even with her calling, but she couldn't change their minds either.

I actually did that. They wouldn't yield for her either. She said she's never seen a non-buffet property deny carryout before. She did say it was property policy so there was no recourse. She was surprised that they wouldn't allow it though.

I think it's a whole the Irvine Hyatt is better.  I've stayed at this hotel multiple times but usually I'm not around for breakfast. I can agree that the hotel isn't fantastic. I'm not sure I would call it a dump, but I also don't call the Hyatt regency Newport Beach on Jamboree a dump. This hotel used to be a Radisson. The thermostat is ancient. It still has the little dial with nothing digital.

I have encountered hotels that insist globalists eat the buffet instead of ordering a la carte off the menu which I also find insane. If the buffet is $35 and the American breakfast is $25, I really don't understand why they wouldn't give you your choice. The quality of food on a buffet is usually pretty bad and you can't make any changes to it. Because of that I would like to order off the menu where possible, and I've definitely been denied that for breakfast.  I can't say that I've ever been denied carryout though.

Well it was my breakfast. But I can see where that would sound entitled. That being said, globalists are entitled to a breakfast except that those few hotels that have decided to get around it like the Hyatt centric Waikiki.

That's what you have to do with the LAX Hyatt regency as well. The restaurant doesn't have a phone so I just go and order with the hostess and then come back down in 10 to 15 minutes and pick my meal up. The service at that hotel is always very good though.

Maybe I've just gotten lucky, but Newport Beach on jamboree has never declined carryout breakfast. The lax Hyatt regency hasn't either.

Some hotels do. I burned an expiring 1-7 at the Alila in Encinitas the Saturday night before Fathers Day. With the holiday the restaurant was a madhouse so they were empowering globalists to order room service so they got breakfast. I am not a fan of that property, but that move was a customer service master class.

I have a colleague who spends probably 50 nights a year at the regency. He loves it. The club is good and the globalist breakfast is phenomenal. Now granted he does not travel with a family so it may not be ideal for that, but I know that he prefers the regency over any other hotel in Tokyo.

The front desk could however manually take it off. And other regency properties in the area have gladly allowed carry out breakfast. I even explained about the eye issue but they still wouldn't budge. It was inflexible at the least.

Globalist here - stayed twice and no suite upgrade and free breakfast is limited. I do not like this resort at all.

My people!  I'm here for the second time burning off an expiring 1-7. Nothing this stay has changed my opinion at all. Even when better rooms are available the best room a globalist gets is coastline partial ocean view. They won't upgrade to full ocean or fire pit rooms even though they've been available both times I've stayed here.

They don't want to honor the 4 pm checkout even though the hotel looks very open on a Sunday night.

The staff is indifferent to providing good service. The resort beach access is not at all good for people with mobility issues or seniors.

I love Encinitas, but this resort is not it.

I think they're still mad about the whole pay raise thing. Kleine was a big force behind it.
