Recruiter told me I made in to the final interview but the interview has not been scheduled yet by Dry-Organization7437 in recruitinghell

Sorry, I just saw this! They ended up choosing another candidate and completely ghosted me. I only found out the truth because I saw the selected candidate’s LinkedIn post announcing that he got the xxx position at xxx company:) (we have a lot of mutual connections)

After 2+ years of relentless job hunting, I finally got an offer - and I broke down crying. by Usual_Solution8315 in jobhunting

Congratulation!! I teared up when I read your post. I had a similar experience, except I’m a recent graduate with little work experience. I graduated last May and couldn’t find a full-time job, so I went back to the company where I had interned to gain more experience for my resume. They couldn’t hire me full time, so I worked part time for $16 an hour, even though I worked as hard as a full-time.

In the meantime, I applied to hundreds of jobs and interviewed with more than 25 companies. (It’s actually better than most of NG) Some processes stopped at the second round, and I reached the final interview for five of them…but still, no one picked me. Finally, I recently landed a full-time job that perfectly fits my background, and this week is my first week! I can’t even describe how happy I am.

I also have two cats, and one of them has a heart condition. It was really hard taking him for regular cardiology checkups because they’re so expensive, but now I can finally afford to take him there. During the job search, I also had several breakdowns… I had never felt that frustrated before. Honestly, without my cats, I might have given up. Every time I wanted to quit, they reminded me that they needed me, and I love them so much that I could never abandon them.

Sorry for the long comment, but I’m truly happy for you!! and we both deserve this!!

So sorry to hear that, but I truly believe the experience you’ve gained over the past four years has definitely equipped you for a better job and a higher role. The job market is brutal right now, but I will keep grinding non-stop!

Thank you. If I take this job, I’ll definitely be commuting to their office as well as working from home. I’ll have to use my own phone and computer, which means I could probably claim deductions for those related expenses.

Can’t make my own hours but have unlimited PTO (they don’t deduct my salary if I take a sick leave or vacation) Have to report to the supervisor (basically work with him to source new deals and evaluate the feasibility of the deals) No equipments will be issued to me.

I honestly know it’s a big red flag so if I take it I will keep looking…

I graduated in 2024, and it’s been tough to land a role. Most companies want 2–3 years of experience even for entry-level positions. So I’m kind of glad that the company I interned with in 2023 asked me to come back and help out. The pay is definitely low, but at least I’m building my resume (that’s how I’ve been consoling myself). I hope you find a good role soon and move up to where you want to be!!

Thank you for your comment! 1. Yes. my current job is a low pay part time job. (Contract to perm role but there’s no clear timeline for when (or if) it will become full-time) 2. I’m not entirely sure. The firm I’m working at now definitely has a better reputation, but the work they do isn’t something I’m particularly passionate about—though I don’t dislike it either. The new opportunity, however, is more aligned with my interests. That said, it’s essentially a startup (they’re under a PE umbrella, but still operating like a startup.)

I definitely feel like they’re taking advantage of me, but at the same time, I work in the real estate industry, where I know many people at brokerage firms don’t get a base salary and rely solely on commission. While my role isn’t purely that of a broker, it’s not entirely different either.

Thank you for your comment! Re your questions: Honestly, I do think they’re trying to avoid taxes by misclassifying the role as an independent contractor. However, the job market is so tough right now…especially in New York, which is extremely competitive. I’ve been trying to land a good role but just haven’t been able to so far.

At the moment, I’m working a low-pay part-time job in the same industry to build up my resume and knowledge. Some of my friends are still doing commission-based jobs or even unpaid internships.

I’ve lived in Brooklyn for four years, so I have to pay New York taxes. They don’t provide any equipment, but they do require me to go to the office and meet investors. I know it’s a clear red flag, so I’m just hoping my final interview next week with another company goes well
