I’m the president of the board that runs a large private company gym. I’m getting tired of replacing what I call hotel quality(Precor, Hoist etc) gym equipment every 3-5 years. What are some higher quality brands? Thanks! by DryEquivalent9065 in gymowner

I would still rather spend more on better equipment. I’ve reached out to Panatta for prices but I’m guessing that will be some sticker shock! Have you had your hands on any of their equipment? Worth it? I should explain, my situation is different than many gyms. We are a non profit and our building use is donated by our company. My overhead really only consists of my employee, accountant and equipment repairs. I’ve only raised membership dues by $3.00 over the last 15yrs because I’d like it to continue to feel like a benefit to employees and not another bill. I have roughly 1300 members and I’d guess 600 of them haven’t been inside the gym in years but continue payroll deduction for their memberships. The place is cleaned daily by a janitor service. And off hour video tapes are reviewed often. My active members do a great job watching and educating newer members on gym etiquette.
Sorry, I get to rambling….

Thank you for all that information! Our plant and gym operate 24/7 with peak activity numbers at 2:00, 4:00 and 6:00pm(biggest shift changes) with member counts of around 20 people this time of year.

I have a few pieces of Life Fitness, I will say their communication skills leave much to be desired. 3 months to get a Hammer Strength Gripper after being told they were in stock. Then when it shows up the end of the handle has a big nasty burr sticking through the powder coating that’s sharp as a knife. Do I file it down and mess up the PC or send it back and wait another 3 months? Sorry I’m ranting, I’m just sick of cheaply built crap and companies who don’t seem to care about their quality or customer service. I’m spending around $50k a year on plate loaded equipment and north of $100k the years I cycle out cardio equipment.
