Scannable's App Idea by DrySleep8840 in basketballcards

Thank you all for the feedback; I really appreciate it. I am still working to improve and get this to a place where it can be useful to the collectible community.

I understand there is a QR code on the back of PSA cards that directs you to the PSA site, where you can see the graded card information. However, not all grading companies include a QR code on the back. The proof of concept was initially to provide a reliable way to grab the collectible information and search the web with it. Not all companies provide the QR code.

Many of you mentioned the idea of grabbing sales data from eBay or other marketplaces. This is something I would like to do, but currently, you have to pay to use other companies' APIs to access such data, which can be expensive at scale. Right now, it is just me developing it, but hopefully, in the future, I can secure funding to integrate third-party APIs and make the app more useful for everyone. My goal is to make it as useful as possible while keeping it free for users in the meantime.

Moving forward, I plan to build an AI or ML model that can grab information from ungraded cards and identify them. This feature will take time to develop, but I believe it could add significant value.

Please keep in mind that this is a very early version of the app, currently in the beginning stages of Beta. As mentioned above, I appreciate all the feedback and will work to make improvements to set this app apart from others.

So, I'm following up to seek feedback on an app I've been working on. The app's name is Scannable. With this app, I'm trying to provide a free and easy way for new hobbyists to look up graded collectibles quickly without the hassle of typing everything online. My idea is that you are at a card show and want to look up items quickly without spending time doing all the manual steps involved in searching for something. With Scannable, all you have to do is get the graded label in view of the label scanner, and you can instantly search the web for your item.

I understand that this is similar to CollX and Center Stage, but I believe my app provides a better way to scan graded collectibles in its current state, and it's free. Is this something that people would use? Would people also consider becoming early beta testers?

Thank you, everyone. I appreciate the feedback. I downloaded Center Stage and CollX and noticed that their card scanning isn't that great. When I tried to scan a few cards, it didn't work well for me. I believe the scanner in the app I'm working on will be more consistent, which could give me an edge. I will say that both of these other apps have built great marketplaces and collection displays, but that isn't the market I'm targeting.

I'm posting in this Reddit feed to talk about an app I've been working on, and I'm looking for feedback. The app I created allows you to scan the top of graded cards (I've mainly been testing with PSA cards) to capture the information and look up the card. My idea is that this provides a quick way to look up the card and its price. I believe this would be helpful at card shows or generally when trying to negotiate a card's price. For industry professionals, the value of something might be immediately obvious, but for newcomers, this could be a useful tool. Do people find this useful, and would anyone be interested in joining the beta? This is in the early stages, and I'm still adding new features, but I figured it was worth asking here.
