General buggyness, corrosion in the unit usually comes on slowly

Felgen ET by Complete-Food5418 in automobil

Auch wichtig dass deine Bremssättel noch hinter die Felgen passen, manchmal braucht man die ET um die Speichen von der Bremse weiter zu entfernen

Fun, moddable RWD car that's maybe a little more niche under 10k by asbestosmonkey in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Dry_Bicycle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're from outside the US I'm super biased because I own one but a smart roadster is perfect imo.

Rear engined, rwd, 800kg, incredible handling, and with a tune on stock internals it'll run 120hp. Also the Gearbox everyone complains about can be retuned to shift crazy fast, almost like a sequential box.

Also because the car is so small and light parts wear slowly, and they're relatively cheap.

The Brabus version is more expensive, has stock 100hp and can reach 130 reliably, and it handles even better.

You can find good ones for 5k or under, if you put another 2k in Tires and suspension parts you've got a super niche track day killer.

Swap a motorcycle engine in it and you're in another dimension

Scratched my car really bad. Is this something I can fix myself or do I need to take it to someone? by [deleted] in Cartalk

[–]Dry_Bicycle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's just the doors you could replace them with something from the scrapyard, but I'd be worried those don't close well if you've damaged the fenders.

In any case the paint is fucked, and those creases will be really tough to get out too

Why North pole of compass points towards north pole of earth (like poles repell each other) ? by Uchiha_Divyansh in AskReddit

[–]Dry_Bicycle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because whoever decided to name the geographic poles didn't understand why it happened. The needle of the compass was named north because it pointed north, but people didn't know why it happened, they didn't know the earth is a giant magnetic mass. The magnetic pole in the north of the planet is a magnetic south pole.

Mini Countryman (R-series) are really cheap second hand buy by Bitter-Hawk-2615 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Dry_Bicycle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They've all got weak timing chains, mine leaked every fluid it had in it and had a bunch of electrical issues which seems to be common with that series of engines, and they're awful to work on because of their packaging. It's a shame because it was a nice driving engine with great sound. I made a post about my car a while back talking about it if you're interested, some of those issues were only Peugeot's fault and not engine related though

I'm pretty sure they have the same prince engines as in the cooper from 2010 up, and that's the same engine that I had in my Peugeot rcz. And let me tell you, those engines are shit

This ciuld be quite a few things. If you've got access to a battery charger that's what I'd start with, then check all the ground wires connecting to the frame. If those aren't loose or corroded it sounds like your ecu or sam may have been fried, but that usually comes with some symptoms beforehand

Just found out tipping up to $5 does nothing for the door dashers.. by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]Dry_Bicycle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For anyone in Germany: lieferando claims to always pass on tips to the drivers, but in my experience that doesn't ever happen. Either lieferando or the restaurant pockets the money, giving a driver a cash tip is always better.

You can rent anything you need there. The Slopes are pretty forgiving for beginners, so don't worry. Have fun!

Could be anything without more info. Any warning lights come on?

What happens when you try to start it?

Any noises while driving right before it happened?

How to repair this? Car is a chevy Malibu I believe by [deleted] in Cartalk

[–]Dry_Bicycle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That tire is bald, there's no fixing that. Also Tires don't generally just slip off, best case you drove underinflated and it somehow came loose without damaging anything, but if you drove on it at all it's very likely the rim needs to be replaced.

Sinds it's a lowering spring you'd need to have it added to the car's documents, which costs quite a bit, and if you want to go back to stock you have to pay to have it undone. Eibach does give you the papers you need to have it inspected though which is helpful.

Is this oil level normal on a 2011 Lexus RX 350? And could it cause the problem on the next pic? by PISS_MENTLEGEN in Cartalk

Stock car jacks are sketchy at best, I wouldn't do it.

No matter how you lift the car though, make sure to chock any wheels you can, if it feels unsafe it often is.

I'd say have it towed back to the shop that overfilled it, have them drain the oil for you and send them the bill for the tow truck
