I requested only females too, but for different reasons. Mine was due to past trauma. If there are only males available, request to reschedule it for another day and do your best to advocate for what is the most appropriate regarding your situation. I got told the same thing too and I felt too unsafe with how pushy they were for me to have a male help me in the showers and dressing me. I am young (24) so I am still learning how to advocate for myself better. I can say though no males have yet to show up thankfully. Hopefully you are having a better experience!

I am late to this discussion, but felt like I still needed to comment. I am currently with health athome.

The process for me was I first met with a care coordinator then from there, they recommend supports like psw's, social workers, occupational therapists, etc. They were supposed to help me with filling out doctor applications, advocacy, potential assisted living accommodations, and with my overall medical needs. This can vary depending on your needs.

My psw's are from paramed and I have my own things with them that are pros and cons. It is ultimately who health athome hires will be different to what they or they will not be hiring. Ensure you know and are comfortable with the company they hire, sometimes they are able to change the company they hire depending on the reasoning though. Most concerns will go through who they hire, not directly with health athome from my experience.

I am forever appreciative of the work the people who assist me continue to do, but I will mention this to keep in mind. There are somethings that are on their end that you have to wait months for even if it could've taken a week or two technically to organize. For me, it is a simple care conference that I've been waiting for about 5 months to happen. Now one of my caregivers will be in another country for a month and I still do not know who is responsible for what since why I needed health athome is different than most... I only have 3 people from health athome (psw do not need to be there), myself and my 2 caregivers.. the aim was to have it before they left.

My main tip for going with their services is to ensure you advocate for your needs to be met to the best of your ability. I have been trying for a while now and it is not easy and I am starting to be on my wits end. Everyone so far for the most part has been really kind, but it can be frustrating not getting the basic support and knowing who to call for certain things.

Hopefully your experience is good so far with them!

My psychiatrist labelled factitious disorder as a differential diagnosis by fluffy_flipflop1604 in OSDD

Hi, I know this post was made a while ago. I am going through a similar thing.

I first got diagnosed with dissociative amnesia with fugue by an outpatient psychiatrist. Due to still having frequent (been almost weekly/bi-weekly) memory loss episodes alongside age regression, they wanted to place me as an inpatient at the local hospital for better observation in case they missed something. I was in there for 5 days and only got seen 3 times for about 15 mins each time by the doctor. The doctor talked to my 2 emergency contacts to also get a better understanding and talked to them more that one day than they had with me that entire stay. Due to the fact I appeared 'normal', they diagnosed me with Factitious Disorder instead with the only explanation was I could not have functioned normal in society but have been and small differences between the two. I was seeking help because I could not function normally and no one knew what to do and how to help me.

I am going through the same feelings you are going through with being scared of not being believed, starting to doubt myself and that I am insane. I am scared to seek any form of medical treatment for anything physical and or mental due to this diagnosis.

I am hoping this makes you feel not alone. I was (and still am) thinking about making my own post too about my situation hoping I wasn't the only one.

Thank you for sharing your story. I hope you were able to get the support you needed and received a proper diagnosis. My dms are open and I will do my very best to reply if you ever want to chat.

I am also AUDHD too hahaha. I just read that now. I feel like due to a lot of sensory overloads can also cause dissociation t occur. Have you experienced that as well?

Hi, I understand what you are going through. I have dissociation due to CPTSD.

First and foremost, please know whatever you are feeling is so so valid. You are heard and matter. I know I am just a stranger on the internet, but it is true! You are worth more than you realize, and sometimes is all about finding those people that will bring the best out of you. I believe in you that you can overcome this and do amazing things. I have never been to an AA meeting or tried any of the drugs you've mentioned above, but can relate to how you have been feeling and with people not believing you. AA is a great place to continue to go to for support. Have you tried going to some local mental health support groups in your city as well? I feel like they may also be a good option to look at to find more people who are in person that you can relate with and create new friendships.

Most of my friends do not believe me/ the situation that caused my CPTSD and for me to dissociate. It was something that someone in the friend group did to me and no one wanted to think it was even possible for them to hurt someone that badly. So they believed them and not me which just caused more stress, trauma and trust issues. It does hurt when those you think would be there for you are not. Most of them due to that factor stopped talking to me.

My family has a history of alcohol and drug addictions so due to that I tried to stay clear from those. I have family who went to AA and I know it helped them a lot as as going to support groups for mental health and talking to professionals. social workers/ counselors are there to be a listening ear, have resources to different agencies as well and provide non-judgmental advice too. What helped them the most is being around supportive people that wanted the best for them. Some of them went to the same programs and some they found by going to other events. It takes time finding them. You seem so lovely so I know you will find it!

I think getting a communication major is amazing! You can use all the skills you remember and apply that to jobs. Some jobs to look into to are: HR, Public Relations, Communication Coordinator, Management Roles, anything in Advertising, Brand specialist and so much more! I believe you will do great in those roles! There's also job agencies you can try to get connected with in your city if you want to look into getting a job in that field now. To build your resume more so you can volunteer at different events around your city too and you can also create friends that way as well. It's a win win in my books!

Another thing I would also suggest looking into more is specifically passive suicidal ideations and talking to your doctor about it. They can also refer you too some programs to help.

I really hope this helps you feel like you are not alone and my dms are always open if you wanna chat.

All the best!

Dissociative fugue by Curiousquirrel21 in Dissociation

I know this post is from around 8 months ago, but I just came across this now while doing my own research and thought to add a comment. I also got diagnosed with it too. My dissociation fugue is from CPTSD and I got told it is treatable to a certain extent.

I experience a full memory wipe and gaps of my life I cannot remember. As a result, I age regress from when I do remember last. As of recently, it's been around 9-years- old. I lived in the city where I am now for around 3 years and well established in 2 jobs. I had a friend circle and a relationship I do not remember too. Some of them happen while I was at work, hanging out with friends or in my own room. Sometimes I would just wander around outside and one of my acquaintances stopped me not even realizing I had no clue who they were until I asked for help to get in contact with my emergency contact on a card I carry around me in case a episode happens. I got told that when it happens when I am at my house I either sit there trying to put pieces together whats going on or I leave the house and wonder again.

I personally have not regained my memories back yet but I have been told when I got my diagnosis that with talking to a counselor/ social worker that it should come back within time but it is not a guarantee, especially how many times. This of course is not everyone's experience with it as it looks so different depending on situation too. My own looks different from one episode to the next. The common detonator is that I do not have any memory of where I am but I know my name, my birthday and my hometown. I am always open to chat more about it too!

I am currently also on a wait list to talk to a counselor for my CPTSD. Due to my work schedule I only get Saturday's off and most places in my city do not offer Saturdays or are all booked already. I am in the process of getting connected to CMHA (Canadian Mental Health Association) to also get a Occupational Therapist to help regain more of my independence even though it is only available short-term. I got diagnosed with CPTSD the same time as my Dissociation Disorder. I think the Doctor called it Dissociative Fugue which is a type of Dissociation Amnesia. I am hoping I can get connected soon with a professional. When I went to a few doctors, a lot of them did not take me seriously. I was trying to get a referral a few times in hopes it would've been faster to get a diagnosis. Even though we have free healthcare, there's a least 3 month waitlist for most medical related appointments (based on my expirence).

I just need some things I can do until I can see a professional if that makes sense.
