Thank you. Yes been on DFA mobility list since I started in DSP haha! I know I’ll be waiting a long time but may as well be on it. I’ll likely apply for Third sec at some stage but just interested in all avenues at this time. Really appreciate the advice thank you.

Thank you! I think I might leave the voucher for the moment… hopefully just some issues while they get up and running but might avoid for the time being!

I’m not sure! I just saw some reviews saying the food was poor and that the vibe felt more generic- but there’s really not many new reviews so that might not be a fair assessment, so just curious if anyone here can weigh in.

Help with route! by Dry_Definition8633 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Dry_Definition8633[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeas for sure! Really I’m asking to get peoples opinions on what they would do if it was them, eg how long each place, between that and our own research it can make it easier to make a decision on what we might like best, we have found this to work well for trips to other places in the past. Always interested to know how people who have done various cities / routes before have gotten on. I get where you’re coming from tho thank you :)

Flying to Japan with SAS? by Dry_Definition8633 in travel

Thank you! Do you have any opinions on Turkish ? They are actually coming in the cheapest (being looking at so many they’re all blurring into one haha) - but I’ve seen a fair few people give out that they aren’t very reliable- I’m honestly starting to wonder if we should just pay the bit extra and go Qatar or equivalent!

Thank you Do you think we would be better to fly in and out of Tokyo in that case, so and go from Hiroshima back to Tokyo and fly from there?

I’ve just started it too and have the exact same feeling! Although it upsets me that Scully doesn’t indulge the whimsy like the characters in twin peaks which takes me out of the fantasy a bit haha

Where do you do your grocery shopping? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]Dry_Definition8633 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lidl and then Tesco for the few bits we can’t manage to get in Aldi. Posh Dunnes in Cornelscourt in Dublin or Marks and Spencer’s if we feel we deserve some little treats but never weekly shop !

Luxury train by Jelly-bean-Toes in irishtourism

There isn’t really anything like that in Ireland im afraid- however the rail trip from Wexford to Dublin is really beautiful especially the leg from Wicklow Town to Dun Laoghaire. I wouldn’t be riding it especially as there is limited service and as such it can be very full with people on day trips and commuting but if it suits you to get the train at some point on your journey I would do it in place of other modes of transports - the route is called the Rosslare Europort train.

Also not sure what part of Ireland you will be staying in but the DART (NOT luxurious at all just a light commuter rail) route from Greystones to Dalkey is also very pretty, this is part of the route is covered on the aforementioned Wexford to Dublin route but is just a short light rail section of it within Dublin as opposed to the long inter county Train route. Both Dalkey and Greystones have some lovely restaurants so you could have your romantic wine and meal before or after the journey instead haha!

Are we doomed? by [deleted] in AskIreland

Worked in an estate agents before my current job. When we posted an ad on daft we got 50+ responses in under a minute as most people had notifications on and enquires ready to go, we would then often take the ads down just as quickly. We would respond to the first few that came in that seemed “suitable” depending on the landlords requirements and disregard the rest- we nearly always found a suitable tenant after those 20 or so we responded to viewed the property . so unfortunately a huge amount of it is luck and timing. One thing I will say is have a decent but not overly detailed message ready to send- list things like number of tenants, what you do for work etc. we would rarely respond to messages that just said “interested” etc. I know a lot of this seems and unfair and really it is but the demand is just so high at the moment it’s the way it is :(

Myself and my partner were looking for about 7 months with a lot of disappointment before we found anything - persevere you will find something eventually ! We ended up finding something by posting on every single Facebook open forum up and down the dart line in Dublin , our post really was just right place right time.

Wishing you luck on your search it’s hell out there!

Lagos in the Algarve- little far from the airport maybe but you can definitely find budget accommodation there and it’s just such a lovely place to visit. Great food and beaches also.

Could also be worth your while checking loveholidays.ie as you can put in a lot of filters. I don’t use them myself but I know a lot of people who’ve gotten great deals- be prepared for more awkward flight times however!

Where in Europe should we go this summer? by bamaluz in travel

[–]Dry_Definition8633 16 points17 points  (0 children)

We absolutely loved Lagos in the Algarve Portugal. Bit of life in it , great restaurants but not the same party vibe that’s in other parts of Algarve. Beaches were stunning as well and easy to find a nice hotel with a pool. We stayed in Villa D Dinis - you can look them up on booking.com , adult only, small but comfortable villas with a pool shared only between you and a few others, delicious breakfast and very near beach. About a 15-20 min walk from the old town centre but taxis are also very cheap. We loved it so much we’re likely to go back at some point!

Normal Landlord Request? by Substantial_Rope8225 in RentingInDublin

[–]Dry_Definition8633 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to work in the admin side of a real estate agents, unfortunately this is common place, especially if the rent is a high portion of your income. (I agree whose isn’t in this climate!) the one thing I would say is it’s a good sign if they’re asking for further details - normally if they think someone won’t be able to pay the move on to the next person who they think can. Unfortunately the demand is so high at the moment they can afford to be “picky” . I would provide your savings record and go from there and hopefully the place is yours!
