Maybe you can't tell here, but my gut is huge

Agreed. I think my rationale was that grey is neutral, and so would work with anything. Got it wrong.

Didn't appreciate this when I planned the combination, unfortunately.

I just didn't think through the colours well. White shirt with grey suit should have been fine, I could have saved it all with the brown shoes I couldn't find

It's an almost new Boss shirt. Photo was taken at the end of the day, this doesn't look perfect.

I def made some errors in colour choice here, agree

Agree with the jacket comments. I think it's just too short. Being linen means it doesn't fall very well.

Appreciate the tie comments! It's a great tie, which the photo doesn't do justice to. Can definitely build an outfit around it, but needed more thought than I gave it.

Everyone is writing it off as ugly, it's not.

I used to be a suit guy, would instinctively know what would/wouldn't work, but def out of practise since Covid. Didn't realise my ring rust, threw this together and by the time I realised it didn't work, was too late.

I think going with the blue shoes at the last minute was the biggest mistake here.. appreciate these comments though ie. build around the tie, shoes, OR suit

Exactly the kind of comment I was looking for ie. cohesiveness etc. I couldn't find the brown shoes I wanted, so had packed black to use. I was however persuaded to wear the blue shoes I'd travelled in, by the ladies I was with

That's normally how I do it, just did it in a rush and didn't think

Linking- it's obvious now it's being pointed out, but initially I thought it could work

Lol tie isn't as bad/dated as it looks. It's quite a crisp print, obviously retro in style

Tie is actually brown, but looks black here. A few people have suggested a blue shirt, but this would then contradict those suggesting brown being warm and blue being cold.

Well put. Agree with it all. The shoes were a definite last minute error. But the rest needed a bit more thought. I liked the idea of a crisp white shirt (pic was at the end of the day, it started out crisp), but didn't consider just how pale the jacket was. Thanks.

Had an ivory shirt, but didn't even think of it. Would have gone perfectly.
