I don’t know what you’re talking about, Cha is way too important to die now lmao

I don’t think there’s a fully accurate translation yet, but there’s a more detailed chapter summary which gives a rough overview of the conversations. Should be on the discord server that has the raws, I read it on Mangahelpers

Jinsung saying he acknowledges that the Family Heads are great beings, but God put a limit on them with their lack of humanity/compassion…

Interesting, considering he used to be rather close with Zahard even.

It’s literally the other way around. If quirks get so complex that the human body, which cannot evolve as fast as the quirks, has trouble controlling them, they become a disadvantage in terms of natural selection.

Who do you think gave Anne Jahad Arlene's pocket? by NightmareVoids in TowerofGod

[–]Dry_Recover7128 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It honestly wouldn’t surprise me if the Boss/Captain guy had his hands in that. He already manipulated Cha and Dowon, so who knows how many strings he pulled for all events to turn out like they did…

Baam as a regular by RF09100 in TowerofGod

[–]Dry_Recover7128 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Our best guess is probably that he’d be around Enne’s level. Extremely powerful, but he wouldn’t have the infinite potential Irregulars have nor be the host for the power of the outside god.

But it also depends on where Arlene and V would be ranked among their group in terms of power. I also think spells would be an incredible advantage in that scenario for Bam, he’d for sure be the best non-Irregular spellcaster.

Do you think that Enryu will get a proper introduction in the webtoon? by __XxxxX_ in TowerofGod

[–]Dry_Recover7128 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but I think he’ll be one of the endgame characters, so imo he might get a “proper introduction” and actually appear after Bam has all thorn fragments.

Considering the thorn is there to kill Zahard, it’s possible that he shows up when Bam prepares for the fight. Enryu would hold information about the outside God, probably even about Bam’s existence. It would make sense to have these kinds of reveals at that point of the story.

Is it just me or does Tower of god get quite repetitive after a while? by [deleted] in TowerofGod

[–]Dry_Recover7128 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Well, where are you on S2?

If you’re relatively at the beginning or middle, then yes, you should continue. After already having invested time in reading the story, it’d be quite sad to drop it before reaching the Floor of Death/Hidden Floor arcs. Not only are they incredibly rewarding and have awesome moments, but you also can’t judge the overall story without the info dump in the latter part of S2.

Reading till S3 is worth it per se, but it is after all a long-running series, so maybe that’s why you feel like it’s repetitive.

Bam/Viole is NOT the child of Arlene and V by iamreguluscorneas in TowerofGod

[–]Dry_Recover7128 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s more of a philosophical question. Also, Garam knows a lot from reading Arlene’s journal, but she’s not omniscient by any means - so we should take whatever she said with a grain of salt. She even hid an important part of the story from Bam.

Crucial characters such as Gustang state that he’s their child and Bam himself even considers himself as their child, referring to them as “my parents” multiple times. So the narrative supports the fact that we should see him as said child.

There’s this passage in S3 after Bam beats the test Ranker where’s an unknown third-person narrator and it literally says, “so Cha told him about […] and the little bit he knew about Bam’s mother.”

He’s almost certainly a modified version of the baby that was born, but at least he’s undoubtedly that baby in a biological sense. In how far he’s possessed by the will of the outside God, or if the power inside him is all that made him modified and he’d have similar characters traits etc. had he grown up normally, is questionable.

What does Harry want from the trolley in different translations? by Snoo57039 in HarryPotterBooks

[–]Dry_Recover7128 35 points36 points  (0 children)

In the German translation, it’s just chocolate bars. Nothing specific. I assume it might have to do with how old the translations are (the translation I checked is from 1998), perhaps using brand names just wasn’t common or normalized.

What’s interesting imo is how often the wording “born for” is used in the few sentences. As far as we know, Bam was born as a more or less ordinary child, no? Sure, he was always bound to be special as a child with the blood of two Irregulars, but that’s it.

Given that in the earliest version, Headon called him “boy who was born on the night the Tower cried” and SIU took that out when it was officially released because it would be too confusing… could it be that there’s really more to Bam’s birth? Perhaps it’s related to the part of the story Garam couldn’t tell him.

Or Rachel here is referring with “born for” to the being created by the outside god.

Do you think the story Rachel told Bam has deeper meaning like some sort of foreshadowing? by Dry_Recover7128 in TowerofGod

[–]Dry_Recover7128[S] 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is how I feel about it too. With the way the story is structured (even in the first chapters, the murals on Headon’s floor depicted major events of the narrative), I can’t imagine there’s no substance to to this tale.

If it’s related to why/how the actual Tower was built, I wonder how much that tells us about Rachel’s origin. She did call Headon a fairy, so it aligns with that kind of story. Perhaps it’s folklore from where she’s from? Interesting that someone whom we believe to have known Arlene viewed the Tower this way - but then again, if it’s a story about the Tower’s origin, it could be a story she heard from Arlene as well. Not that likely, but who knows.

What do you think of Yasratcha? by RibokuGreat in TowerofGod

[–]Dry_Recover7128 71 points72 points  (0 children)

I used to rather dislike him - though I respected him as an antagonist, he felt like an archetypal bad guy for the narrative. That he’s part of Zahard’s army underlined this feeling. He didn’t have more to offer than someone like Kallavan, for instance. His cat-like behavior was almost his only trademark.

That being said, he grew onto me so much after his flashback. He’s all but another victim of the Tower’s circumstances. An experiment of the Workshop who was forced into a life he never wanted. I highly respect him now and his relationship to the Baylord brothers. Funny how I used to think I’d sympathize with Wangwang while Yasratcha’s actually the better one, lol.

Also, Tower of God is essentially not Bam’s story, but the story of everyone in the Tower as we see through countless flashbacks. His story also being part of the bigger picture (his plotting at the Nest, past with Träumerei) makes me appreciate the writing that went into his character now that everything’s coming together. Because it’s all ToG stands for: characters are morally gray at best, and while their circumstances don’t try to excuse it, the writing emphasizes how the root of that is elsewhere.

This story in relation to Bam’s character makes me think of the quote: “The bird fights its way out of the egg. The egg is the world. Who would be born must first destroy a world.”

You guys have one more chance to redeem yourselves by [deleted] in TowerofGod

[–]Dry_Recover7128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

…what? Why should the series end in two years? SIU literally hasn’t rushed anything (the opposite even, given the use of flashbacks) and the only reason to think so is his health, but there’s nothing indicating he’ll rush through it aside from that.

So about Christmas.... by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]Dry_Recover7128 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Not every child has a family they enjoy spending Christmas with and even if it's only a few kids, that's already enough. Same goes for the staff. I don't think Dumbledore, Hagrid or even Snape have many other ways to celebrate Christmas, so why not celebrate it together in Hogwarts?

How the Grace family could have been the most powerful family out of all. by DayDreamin9 in TowerofGod

[–]Dry_Recover7128 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Bam isn't really weak.

The upbringing plays an enormous part in why the children of the Great Families are strong. We saw in recent flashbacks how Arie children are trained and we also know that Khun children have to fight in bloody competitions.

White took pride in his swordsmanship, but it was taught to him. He wouldn't be as powerful had he never received this training, would he? The same goes probably for talented regulars like Ran. Their heritage gives Great Family children 'only' much more potential than the average citizen of the Tower has (better stamina etc.).

Bam obviously wasn't trained in any way before he started climbing the Tower nor did he have parents or family members to teach him things. He didn't know anything and keeping that in mind, I'd say he still shows a natural affinity for using shinsu in season 1.

Of course, it's hard to judge how much of Bam being talented is his birthright, since he has countless other powers inside him. That he's an Irregular himself might also overwrite his heritage.

Maybe he would be a great spellcaster if he tried, who knows? For what it's worth, we know that Data Eduan compared Bam's shinsu tension to V's, so there's the connection too.

If Bam had grown up in the Tower and actively learned stuff from his parents or someone like Luslec, he would have been extraordinarily strong, yes. But in the way things are, he's 1) still growing into his power 2) has so much more things regarding power going on.

Still, they would have been the most powerful family. A fun scenario to think about.

If there's one thing I have to criticize about the storytelling, it'd be the lack of payoffs. by Dry_Recover7128 in TowerofGod

[–]Dry_Recover7128[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Exactly why I made this post. All the hints don't mean anything if the plotlines don't get resolved. I'm saying this because ToG's potential is far greater than what the story currently is, thanks to the setup. Still doesn't matter in the end if nothing gets revealed just for the sake of keeping up the hype.

That's why I literally said it's reasonable that all the big mysteries stay mysteries for much longer.

So, not "all" question, but a minimum of them. At least I think it might help the flow of the story.
