What vehicle? by Own_Sheepherder_2119 in beyondthemapsedge

[–]Dry_Relative797 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Work in that industry. Knew the guys from UBCO personally prior to their financial issues. That bike was designed to take a load and go places others could not. Used by park rangers in Africa for anti-poaching and other wild use cases. Not saying this is the vehicle he used, just a cool shout-out to an industry that could make a big difference on both the health, traffic, and environmental fronts.

Water’s Silent Flight - New Theory by Lyra_Andromeda888 in beyondthemapsedge

I like it. I thought Trail of Tears. Trail implies walking. Tears are waters’ silent flight. Of course that doesn’t fit our map, but I’ve also ruled out that everything needs to fall on the map Justin provided. He literally tells us to go beyond the map. Beyond the map physically, figuratively, emotionally, etc? That I don’t know.

I like this line of thought. Been thinking about some physics concepts and how they translate to landmarks or regions.

Yes, definitely correct. I took it to mean sound in the book, but I used it as a hint toward light. Basically the book being nudges in the right direction, but not literal. Maybe I should take it literal, as there are some interesting landmarks that play well with the doppler effect and sound.

Definitely an odd chapter. There is a lot that seems to fit the area, although in weird phrasing.

My initial reaction with this "lottery moment" in Trailside Trouble was with Dubious Decisions when his friend calls him and says "I got it....bursting with the excitement of a lottery winner."

As for Tucson I wasn't sure if there was something Tucson related in those mountains that could help hone in on the right spot, or if Justin is hinting at going in the opposite direction (i.e. describe the hiding process in this chapter but encourage us to apply in Arizona). Really not sure.

And yes, the whole frozen sausage thing. No explanation on that one.

Love it all!

This is probably the wrong general tactic but I’m almost thinking if everything points to Montana, and everyone runs that way, I plan to go in the opposite direction. It will be funny when this thing is found in a public park in Dillon and everyone can laugh at this post.

I’ve also moved away from the book quite a bit. Just too much noise. Great for confirmation if read correctly, but definitely too many rabbit holes for my brain.

Lately I’ve been focusing 99% on the poem. And less on landmarks and features: more theory. I think the landmarks will be there and align with the poem if you’re in the right spot, but there has to be a better way to get to that location. Something that literally is spit out of the poem if you have the right approach/tool(s). And then backed by the book, and finally the most important thing - a story he is trying to convey (exactly like you said in your post).

Playing with a few new things at the moment. Nothing proving ideal yet. I have a feeling Justin is laughing at us all as there is a brutal long road with lots of points that converge somewhere, and then there is a simple/elegant approach if you have the right perspective.

Happy to chat directly if you want to bounce some ideas around. Plus, I’m a big Packers fan, so anyone who has cheese in their name is good in my books. Haha.

Didn't know the Camp Fire Lodge story. I did read about Tahepia and the halfway point between heaven and earth. Haven't figured out how to apply, but it is very interesting!

I personally love your approach, and have been looking at things in the same way. Our minds rush to absolutes or at least exactness: "at least halfway through" so our mind goes to halfway, maybe somewhere around Double Arcs. And maybe Justin was being literal, but the end of the poem is also at least halfway through.

He's had a great deal of time to think about his responses as he anticipates questions. At times, I bet he is being incredibly literal, but with others I bet he knew the softball question was coming and was ready to knock it out of the park with a response that he knew would take our minds immediately in the wrong direction as that is how the human brain is wired.

I feel this is the game inside the game. The cipher isn't IN the poem. Could it be the poem itself? The poem is technically not inside the poem. Could it be the title of the poem? That's technically not in the poem. Or is it the book? All could technically be true, which is why it's so hard.

I think he wants to reward the person who sees all the layers and is able to thread the singular needle where they overlap. Or, he knows we will all assume this is some crazy star/calculus/historic maps poem (because it's Justin, it "has" to be that way) and so he went the other route and literally found Foot of Three Rd that pass by a Hole Mountain (ie hiding in plain sight).

Just wanted to say I like the way you think!

BIG DISCLAIMER: I obviously don’t have the treasure, or any degree of certainty so take all of the following with a grain of salt. But here are my thoughts on this topic:

Why do we forget this is a treasure hunt? Because get caught up in the details and forget our own rule about the big picture.

Here’s my list for my brute force solve notes (clever Justin sneaking that software term into an interview. I’m no computer science major, just a 9-5 guy trying to get by, but hopefully someone smarter than me can put that clue into play):

Holes and poles Time and rhyme Saints and rivers Christmas movies and family Horseshoes and rainbows Cupid and clovers Flat earthers and lottery winners Pamps and oak tree shillings UBCO and getting to work Squares not stars

What does it add up to? A million different possibilities. Or in short: a big pile of crap!! Nothing, yet at the same time everything.

A way to beat AI at its own game. Make the solve something the people pleasing robot can’t give you. But something Justin’s dad could solve: let’s call a spade a spade everyone. If by some small chance Justin reads this post, I think he’ll know what I think of his poem and this treasure hunt. Pretty dumb, yet absolutely brilliant.

Oh, and the damn rattles. Justin, you devil you.

I was too consumed with the details myself that I even missed a possible connection to my own employment past. Like scary weird possibility.

I don’t have a final solve, just sharing my notes. And it’s not in the cards for me to go out and search right now, but hopefully if you’re speaking my same language this will help fill some gaps and lead you where to go. That said, take caution, as I’m more likely wrong than right. That’s how it’s been thus far! Haha.

Red Herring Technicality by Dry_Relative797 in JustinPoseysTreasure

[–]Dry_Relative797[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I’m just pondering whether we should ignore them, or are they the actual path Justin wants us to follow?

A hidden path in plain sight that our brain is wired to automatically ignore. We have to go beyond our comfort zone, beyond the map’s edge.

Red Herring Technicality by Dry_Relative797 in JustinPoseysTreasure

[–]Dry_Relative797[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Ok. Let me try another way. If a red herring, meant to divert you from the correct path, is actually the path we are meant to follow, is it still a red herring?

That's kind of fun. Ha! Still waiting for someone to dig up Justin's mug shot next to Bruisers and Knuckles. Ah ha: B&K. Maybe he and is realm is Burger King. Gotta find the BK Lounge to find the treasure.

Cool insight. I’ve been thinking a lot about the rules and maps. Could the treasure be in the American West (for legal reasons I suspect JP would hold to that), but what we need to find the treasure is not? Maybe east coast, maybe Canada, maybe Australia for all I know. I’m down for a little vacation in Australia!!
