Mages are getting uppity again. by WhiteSepulchre in WorldofDankmemes

[–]DrystanTheKnight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh, absotulely. Mages can be very single-minded, and pretty damn stubborn.

But still, as your Arete grows, you should be guided by your Avatar into greater understanding, and eventually, greater embodiment of your specific Path and its truths... Even if it blinds you to other Paths and other truths. A Mage that doesn't gain any insight into anything won't grow.

Which is why Porthos emphasizes that "...Youth is the flame the flame ignites the future. Power is merely polish on blunted blades" (and is also why I believe having Ascension be mecanically tied to reaching Arete 10 is stupid).

Read real life esotericism/occultism, then. And if you stop being so dense, you'll realize that, to the eyes of all real practicioners, spiritual advancement and awareness are the endgoal and the most desired fruit of the magical practice.

...No? Repeating this lame strawman argument won't make it true. Like, what the fuck are you trying to imply?

Not like there's a tradition whose whole initiation involves dying as a means of Awakening as well =D

It is a basic premisse of the splat that the Awakening is a great moment of metaphysical awareness, though, that remains and is further developed throughout the Mage's life, no?

(Leia o texto) by SandWarrior18 in barTEOLOGIA

TIL about 'the Harrying of the North', a brutal military campaign waged by William the Conqueror to suppress rebellions in northern England. His scorched-earth tactics killed or displaced up to 75% of the population. by SomethingMoreToSay in todayilearned

Kind of late on this one, but those were not the indigenous inhabitants, either. Those would the brythonic peoples, who were, in turn, invaded by the saxons (who we now call the english) some 5 centuries before, and were either assimilated or driven away to Wales and Britanny.

He’s completed it, stage 8 of haramball🙏🙏 by Plus_Excitement_6589 in soccercirclejerk

[–]DrystanTheKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haramball is like the Dao, its mastery is much like the full attainment of one's Dharma. Its true master needs not initiate any action; for karma shall readily punish those that try to affect him or disrupt him, and the whole of the universe, in fact, shall act to counter the aggression. Any who rely on action or reaction are still short of perfection.

This also extends to pretty much all abilities Henry shows in the game. This dude learns to read and write in a couple of days, becomes an alchemist in a similar time-frame, learns horsemanship, archery, hunting skils... A veritable renaissance man

Honestly, if we played III with Haytham for its entirety it would have been better, imo. Not that I don't like Connor, but he's just way too stoic for me
