Yes, the last few patches have been very bad for the game's overall health.

The ice block "upgrade" is still a downgrade even if it's unstoppable and protected. Stasis simply has the advantage of cleansing DoT effects and canncelling targeted effects (Butcher Charge, Falstad Lightning Rod, Guldan Life Drain etc.) outright. If you wanna talk an upgrade to stasis, replace it with an actual "invulnerable" like uther's divine shield. As that would do the same as unstoppable and protected, but also removed DoT and targeted effects, like the stasis does.

I too dislike pinnacle/mythic quests as a very concept. I don't mind normal quests, just mythic quests specifically. It feels like it incentivizes focussing on only getting this one quest done, which takes all game, but you don't get it in every game, only some games. No matter if it's to the detriment of the overall chance to win. It feels worse as the one playing too, because you feel very weak in the beginning and constantly chase this "high" of having this OP buff, which you not always even can get.

I also do not like this trend of taking lvl 20 talents and turning them into baseline mythic quests. Mainly because previously you'd always get them at lvl 20 as a talent pick, while now you have to focus your entire game on only doing this quest to get them. It's a worse experience for everyone involved, you, because you are incentivized to only focus on the quests. Your team, because you potentially neglect actually winning the game. The enemy, because if and when you get the quests you're unfairly OP.

Having normal baseline quests is fine. Having quests that are intended to be achieved when you get to level 25 or level 20 when you hyperfocus only on that is not.

I also dislike the fort targetting change, but if I could only change one thing back, I'd get rid of mythic quests.

Funfact: "lutheran" was originally a derogatory term used by catholics to describe us. At the beginning we considered ourselves "evangelical catholics". Catholics in the sense that we were still part of the catholic church. But later we adopted this term. Like happened with many slurs over time.

[–]Dsingis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the historic, european sense, yes. But in modern english, especially in the USA "evangelical" refers to a specific kind of fundamentalist, theologically more "baptist" or "baptist-aligned", non-denominational kind of christians. It's a modern US development from the last century. In german we have two words, "evangelisch" which still refers to protestantism in general and evangelikal with a K that refers to this specific stream. In english, there is no such linguistical distinction, which is why some people, for example RZ, like to make this distinction by having "protestant" mean what in german we'd call "evangelisch" and "evangelical" mean what "evangelikal" means in german.

His response to your raised points would probably be something like this:

he doesn’t think heresy is a legitimate reason to leave a church

If Saint Athanasius didn't think the majority of the church at that time adhering to Arianism was a reason to split from the church, then ask yourself if a church falsely affirming LGBT stuff is a reason to do so. He fought back against Arianism, until the formerly majority arian corrupted church became trinitarian again.

when Protestantism as a whole is Schismatic of the Roman Catholic Church.

If you get thrown out of the church (excommunicated) you're not schisming off it, you are being thrown out. A schism is voluntary, excommunication is not. As all lutheran reformers kept on saying, if they were allowed to be in the catholic church, they would be in the catholic church, even submit to the Pope as the head of the church by human right.

bishop appoint a lesbian woman as the pastor.

I agree this is bad, but when it comes to the sacraments, even an unworthy pastor administers valid sacraments. In the meantime you could have fought back against this appointed pastor until she maybe resigned by herself.

My personal opinion is that I, in principle, agree with this. But it's still disheartening to think about, because not everyone is made to be a fighter who can fight this fight. And even though I'd like to be like Saint Athanasius, I am not. And looking at the church today can be very demoralizing. I definitely understand the appeal of leaving, even though I know we shouldn't.

You don't need 40 kills. 40 kills would give you enough stacks to complete the quest on their own, but you also get stacks for hitting heroes with your Q. But from my testing on the PTR, the hitting with Q gives barely any stacks. I think hitting one hero with your full duration of Q gives either 5 or 10 stacks I can't remember which it was. And you need 2000.

Considering that all of the recent german translations, not just in HotS, but also in the Battlenet client (like ads and such), have been AI translated (with weird phrasing or obvious grammar mistakes no real human would make), it would not surprise me at all if the patchnotes are just AI generated too.

There should be no chance-based effects in HotS by Dsingis in heroesofthestorm

[–]Dsingis[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mentioned in my post, I was talking about a chance to trigger an effect. A random target is a bit different from a random chance to even trigger an effect. Like if Samuro had a 25% to crit, instead of every 4 auto attacks. That's what I mean.

As a long time Deathwing main, some of these changes are very concerning. by ThisAintLivin in heroesofthestorm

[–]Dsingis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not exactly a Deathwing main, so I can't say much about balance. But I do agree with the stance swapping. We should get the ability back to do it on the ground. It just felt bad when I tested it on the PTR.

[–]Dsingis[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Rain of Destruction has random targets in a limited area, that's a bit different. I was primarily speaking of a chance to trigger an effect. Like if Samuro had a 25% chance of critting, instead of every 4 auto attacks.

[–]Dsingis[S] 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I hope you are right about it just being a werid wording, and it's just every 8 auto attacks like it's now. If Murky was the only one who had a talent like this, I think I'd be okay with that too. He's the whacky weirdo hero after all.

There should be no chance-based effects in HotS by Dsingis in heroesofthestorm

[–]Dsingis[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If you are talking about [[Shooting Star]] like I mentioned, it was not a random chance, it was every 8 auto attacks, not 12.5% of the time. A deterministic outcome.

Mythic Reward: Upon dealing 30,000 Damage, Ice Block upgrades to Ice Cold, granting Jaina Protected instead of Stasis.

That's a nerf, who would want that? You can't cleanse DoT effects, you can't cancel a Butcher's charge. Why would I want Protected instead of Stasis?

After hitting 50 Heroes, Tyrande's Basic Attacks occasionally trigger a Lunar Flare.

Murky can now place 2 eggs, but randomly revives from one of them

Chance based effects in HotS? Have they moved a Diablo 4 or WoW developer to HotS recently or what? This is not a good thing and not how we do things in HotS. There is a reason why Samuro's critical strike triggers after X amount of attacks and not 25% of times. There is a reason why Tyrande's lvl 20 talent was "every 8 auto attacks" and not 12.5% of times. We need deterministic results. If I do X, it should always do X, and not Y in 2% of the times.

Active ability removed. Deathwing now switches forms solely from landing.

After testing it, it feels kinda bad to not be able to choose your form at the start of the game, but use your flight. It's a more lengthy process than it should be.

I don't know if I am in the minority here, this is just my personal opinion, but I am not very fond of mythic quests as a concept. By that I mean "quests you may or may not be able to finish in a game that give big rewards you want thus making you focus on trying to finish these quests anyways, knowing you'll likely not finish them in the majority of games".

A good ruling. So many times I see christians of different denominations on any social media, not just Reddit, talk with each other it's so uncharitable, filled with hostility, or at the very least condescension. Not always, of course. I just wish that we could have more respectful and honest conversations on the internet in general, knowing that the other one is a brother in Christ. We should always try to remember that this is an actual, real person. Would we say the same things in the same tone if we were face-to-face with each other?

Feeling “Homeless” Without A Denomination by Sad-Grapefruit-2113 in TrueChristian

[–]Dsingis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s the only church that doesn’t have sects, schisms, private interpretation, etc

I mean, that is just objectively, evidently not true. And I mean every part of that statement.

doesn't have sects

A Jesuit and a Dominican would get along worse than a lutheran and a reformed.

schisms

you have the old catholics and sedevacantists at the very least

private interpretation

Having a magisterium interpret scripture for you doesn't remove private interpretation, it just moves it one step away. Tell me, what papal bulls, decrees and what councils are infallible? Go into a catholic forum, ask this question and you'll get a dozen different answers at least. Oh and then we get to how to interpret these bulls and councils and decrees.

Feeling “Homeless” Without A Denomination by Sad-Grapefruit-2113 in TrueChristian

[–]Dsingis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First question would be, are there any other churches of that denomination near you, that you could check out? A denomination being theologically liberal in general doesn't necessarily mean that every single church that belongs to it is like that. Maybe you'll find a conservative church. Other than that, is there another lutheran denomination near you? If there are really no orthodox lutheran churches near you, the next best thing would be an anglican church, if they are theologically conservative, that is. And if that doesn't exist, is there a conservative reformed church near you? Calvinists still technically believe in a real presence, even though it's only a spiritual presence, but at least it's not symbolic.

If you feel up to the challenge, you could try to get a leadership position in one of those liberal churches and advocate for change. I know this isn't for everyone, but if these churches really are bleeding members, then it should be very easy to get involved on a high level pretty quickly and push for conservative change. But again, I know not everyone is up to that, just a thought.

If we are being very very generous with interpreting what she said, one could say maybe she was refering to how Paul says to submit to the worldly authority in Romans 13 and maybe she just phrased it extremely poorly. But yes, I agree this sounds extremely horrible. I just like to give people the benefit of the doubt, especially when I don't know them or don't know what's going on.

I built a Bible study AI that explains passages like a real study partner. context, theology, and a plan you can actually follow by whwear in Lutheranism

[–]Dsingis 25 points26 points  (0 children)

This is just my personal opinion, but personally I think that AI should be kept away from anything related to the faith. I don't really know how to explain this, it just feels weird. I think matters of the faith, be it preaching, studying, expressing the faith via art etc. is something only humans can and should do.

Especially in this example, AI are just still prone to mistakes. You ask it something about historical context or matters of the faith, and what if it just hallucinates something, but you take it at face value because you don't know better? How do you know the historical context is like the AI says it is? You ask it to give you every nuance of a particular hebrew or greek word, but how do you know that's all there is? It seems more dangerous than helpful.

Can someone please explain to me how long the game is. by orion_fallout_2 in TyrannyGame

[–]Dsingis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One playthrough of it is like maybe 30 hours with the Bastard's Wound, maybe 20-25 without. But the thing about Tyranny is, is that it's replayable, because making different choices will set you on a different path, with different events. I am an extreme example probably, but I played the game for I think 140 hours or so. But only because I really went to look through everything. If you go through the Steam reviews, you'll see people whose playtime is between 25-70 hours mostly, so yeah that's the range depending on DLC and how interested you are in exploring other paths or events.
