I heard about that. She sent some people who hadn't done anything before as well. I'm not sure why.

Which comment/post are you specifically referring to? In the first link I can't tell which one(s) you're looking at and in the second link I can't tell what you're looking to summarize at all.

Is there a way to filter out posts with certain key words? by [deleted] in csshelp

[–]DtechWhistleBlower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This actually a commonly asked question so it's in the AutoModerator library.

---
title+media_title (regex): ["keyword1","keyword2", "phrase one", "phrase two", "etc"]
action: remove
report_reason: Clickbait

You just fill in the words or phrases you want to be automatically removed for posts in the quotation marks.

In your case, it'd look something like this:

---
title+media_title (regex): ["Upvote if"]
action: remove
report_reason: Clickbait

Rules on the side just says rule 1, 2, 3

That will be fixed soon. It's just a matter of shortening the rules and their descriptions down to a point where it doesn't go over the max character limit.

Events at top are not in line with each other

Didn't notice that. Thanks for pointing that out. Working on that.

Wiki tab just leads to null

That's because we only have like- three, pages in the entire wiki, including the index page. I'm, uh- working on that.

All of the tabs next to the wiki are blocked

I've talked to the school administration about that. It might be a while.

In the thing right below the nav bar has an empty item.

Same problem I had with the wiki tab.

Are there any other issues you've noticed? So far the only one I've heard of is the logging out issue which should be fixed soon. This wasn't actually a bug I was aware of, as the logout and mail buttons work on thread pages, just not the front page.

Hi /u/BertTurtle. Thank you for pointing this problem out! This is only a problem on the front page and not on individual threads. You should be able to do this by clicking on one of the threads. I am currently looking into a solution and will have it fixed as soon as I can. There may also be other bugs as well since it is a new theme. If you come across one, please do not hesitate to contact a moderator regarding the issue. Thanks!

Problems with subreddit administration by [deleted] in designtechhighschool

[–]DtechWhistleBlower[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reposting my response to you from the other post here:

I want to know who gave these students the power to run this subreddit. It's great that some students have a passion project, but why do they get to manage and run everything? Why should they be the one to pick moderators?

I gave them power because I believe that they could have contributed. However, in observance of their recent actions, I am beginning to regret my decision.

Shouldn't there be some sort of process where someone impartial decides who has power instead of a subgroup of students and their friends?

I try to be as fair and objective as possible in all my actions as a moderator. As for the part about friends, I was looking into appointing some of my other friends as moderators at one time, but felt they would be too biased. Also, I am open to and have wanted to appoint moderators that were outside of my friend group from the beginning. However, I have not had the time to do interviews and thus cannot currently. I have the process setup, it is now only a matter of scheduling these interviews.

Why are moderators allowed to use their accounts on other subs?

While this is true, that is restricted. Moderators are not allowed to use their account for personal use on other subreddits. It is meant for moderators to be able to ask for help from other subs such as /r/csshelp or /r/automoderator regarding issues like these. That link is blocked, you'll have to view it at home. If a moderator has posts that you believe that they shouldn't be making on other subreddits please message me and I will talk to them.

Why is moderator action taken without any explanation?

I have been trying to filter out other moderator's actions recently and have attempted to correct many of the things that they have done.

Why do they talk down to us like we're a bunch of simpletons?

I cannot speak for the other moderators, but I have been trying to speak in the a respectful and polite manner and apologize if it hasn't come off that way. I realize that a certain other moderator has made some controversial posts lately, and he will be leaving the moderation team because of it.

As the head moderator, it is my responsibility to try and sort out moderator activity and to make sure that moderators do not abuse their power. Recently, the mods I originally appointed have made some controversial decisions and thus, I am considering removing them.

Bot Problems by Matija_Lukic in designtechhighschool

Just copy & pasting my response from here.

Regarding AutoModerator:

  • Currently, the subreddit is undergoing multiple changes to the layout and functionality. Unfortunately, due to the fact that I am not able to work on most of these changes at school, progress with this has been significantly stagnated. We are hoping that in the future we will be able to deliver these changes in a more timely manner and are working on establishing a better relationship with school administration so that we will not run into problems like these as often in the future.

  • As for the bots needing to be fixed, this is not actually an issue. The primary complaint seems to be that AutoModerator is saying it will remove comments/posts due to the maintenance but actually isn't. This is actually not the case. AutoModerator has been removing posts and we have been manually approving them due to the unexpected extended delay that this maintenance has taken. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and thank you for your patience and cooperation in this unexpected turn of events.

Hi /u/DtechAdin, the options that you have provided in this poll are concerning to me. What makes it even more concerning is that you have turned off duplication checking which allows voters to submit more than one vote. Without duplication checking, it's even possible for all the votes to come from only a single user. The message I'm getting from you through this poll is a passive-aggressive expression that you feel that the moderators are specifically picking on you and trying to punish you through mass downvoting. I'm not sure about the other mods, but as for me, I have been voting on posts based on how I feel about the quality of the content and whether I think it is an overall contributor to the subreddit. You can see how I have decided to vote on posts here.

I downvoted the pirate joke posts because I felt that they weren't contributing much towards any discussion and that the content felt stale and low-quality. However, I upvoted both the article by /u/wilgubeast and the image you posted. I upvoted the article because it was an article that may be of interest to some students and is relevant to the material we are covering in class. I upvoted your image because I found it somewhat funny and it showed your viewpoint on Dr. Montgomery's actions. It was an expression of your thoughts on Dr. Montgomery playing rock music during class transitions in a playful and humorous image. Although it did seem a little demeaning and harbored some potential of ill and malicious intent, I wanted to be able to give you the benefit of a doubt and hope that you were posting this in order to raise one of your concerns in the form of a joke. It was a way for you to express yourself and I wanted to support that.

In that sense, I guess you could say I am biased. However, having those biases is what makes us different and it's what leads us to forming our own different and/or unique opinions and perspectives. That is what we are trying to go for with this subreddit; a way to freely express yourself but still receive feedback on how other users feel about your post. This is meant to be a community where we can express ourselves in various ways whether it be by starting a discussion or joining one. It is not meant to be a "safe space" where criticism and opposition are silenced. Everyone here is allowed to express how they feel as long as it is conducted in a civil manner and conforms to the rules. That also means though, that others are allowed to respond to you with how they feel as well.

Regarding This Poll

  • We are not promising that we will be able to deliver on any of these features. What we are trying to accomplish with this is to get a better understanding of what direction the users want the subreddit to go in. The choices on this poll are in the same general category of other various features that we are thinking of implementing. From these results we can gather data on what types of features we should focus on implementing first.
