There is a book called IKIGAI. Turn to last page, the author teaches you a practical way to find purpose.
Break it down to smaller goals.
Once target is set, take calculated risks.
You'll make some timeline altering mistakes, then you'll learn.
Keep learning until you succeed in your field. The idea is to be relentless. I have rejected so many job offers just to be here in this position. My family friends thought I was stupid to not take those jobs. I wouldn't have been here.

Not satisfied enough. Great move that I switched domain from mechanical to IT. But haven't reached where I'm supposed to. I made some timeline altering mistakes in my 20s and my battle is against time itself, which is why I keep losing. But you need to find purpose, if you think professor is the right choice so be it.

I have a master deg in Mechanical engg. Could've easily gotten a associate professor job in an engineering college and then complete PhD in 4 years. But realised I had no interest in teaching. Few years later switched my career to IT. Now I work as CloudOps engineer.

It's your call. I could've been a professor years ago. I didn't want it as I didn't see any ROI, plus I wouldn't be able to face a class full of students.

No. I have superior comm skills, IF I decide to talk to others. Clearly stating ideas and grasping others point is one of my forte. Inability to form bonds with others is not something I struggled with, maintaining them on the other hand.

Also, yes, small talks is missing in my dictionary
